i don't want to run them like this...

but like this, i'll see how it goes but i want to try get a wider, less laminar flow, hopefully similar to the vortechs... any of you tried this before?

i was thinking of running 2 x 6201's on the sides and 1 (or perhaps 2) 6101 pointing towards the water surface in the middle, how would that be for flow?

cheers

very very cool! punk! its all so nice and shiny! one thing though, i'm really confused as to how that overflow works, whats the story with the extra pane of glass etc?
thanks buddy, if you look closely you'll see it's a normal internal overflow box but it's just very narrow (about 10mm), it can handle enough flow, is very silent and it doesn't take up much space in the tank...

Absolutely incredible. A master of his craft at work. Thanks for sharing Punk.

That overflow looks very interesting, does the water go from there directly into the sump? Any ball valves on the way down? Very unobtrusive and no need for durso's.

Very Nice !!!

Looking forward tio seeing this tank get wet :)

Hi Punk. I have noticed that the holes are lower than the overflow so that would need to be sealed well otherwise water will flow between the cables and glass. Are you guys going to use anything specific to seal that up.Cool:)

yup, i think they'll both have a ball valve to control the level inside the overflow box & both will just go into the 1'st sump chamber...

I hear the next Gauteng meeting is at your spot :whistling:
 perhaps one day when i have some corals to show for

thanks dude i can't wait :)

Very cool punk.Nice overflow. It will be very difficult to get anything out there:whistling:

Nice present btw:pChristmas is still far away:)
adriaan says that it's actually pretty easy to scrape stuff out of there...

yeah adriaan will seal them once the cables are through, luckily the glass is 24mm so there should be enough space for silicone to seal it nicely...

looking absolutley brilliant there punk, you must be lank excited:)

and i cant wait to see you cycle this fella and then mature it out:)

yeah i cant wait either, seeing a new tank being born makes me wanna go adjust something on my tank, give it that look. possibly why my Bristle tooth is quite ticked off with me:) but, what is that metal piece type thing in the pic andreas quoted?

Punk, if there is no protection over the blade, aren't you a little worried that you might end up with Sushi? we do a mod over in the UK that is to cut every other bar in the safety cover, this helps to increase the flow without losing the safety cover totally.

lol my thoughts exactly !!!thats like putting an airplane properler in a grade one class room!!!:p

I have seen this setup in Idol Marine's tank, and the fish have worked out when the units are on/off, and seem to not be phase by them.

what about invertes?this is just not safe enough, after all fish are dum enough to get sucked into overflows so who says they wont get sucked into this?

Just looking at Adriaan's tank, and I see covers on the props, maybe he was just servicing when I saw it
