new 3.2m tank

Very nice Ed,stunning frogspawn. How do you find the growth rate with 20k bulbs.

WOW Ed! That is one really superb looking tank man! Congrats! How much total water movement (in litres per hour) do you have?
I see that there are some areas in the tank where the flow is a little bit lower? (ie. where the cyano is evident, and where the ricordias and mushrooms live?)

ed, that tank really is looking great:) super effort so far, going to be great letting it grow out. the same tank in a years time would be stunning :)

just a heads up, i see a little green bubble algae, try watch your parameters and keep them as close to perfect as possible, also if you can remove them (the bubbles) gently without popping them i would. You definatley dont want it to get out of hand in a reef that size.

wood would be a great addition both for the sump and to cover the excess light spilling out ove the top from those MH. But design the cabinet carefully, if you were to add a higher than normal wooden section over the top to hide the lights it would be great, but might look out of proportion, and you would need to ensure there are doors for access obviously.

nice job so far:)

second what jacques was asking, i alos noticed a polario i think at the back, hows that working for you?

Jacques I have Cyano growing DIRECTLY in front of powerheads, blowing in the wind as it were, and when I had my outbreak flow made zip difference to me, is this a myth or do I just have tough cyano?

Hi Marc - there are a few contributing factors to cyano bacteria. ONE of them, is definitely water flow.... another - water chemistry.... if the water chemistry has "food" for the cyano bacteria to live on - it will still continue living.....

think it's time for some updates. Sorry for the poor pix quality, my lights are 3x 400w MH 20k and it's very difficult to take good pictures under them, but i think this gives an good idea whats going on. hope u like

Holly sweet music, this is fantastic.:thumbup:

Tnx for all the kind words, will try to answer your questions ;):

the cyno is because i had to disconnect my frag tank for drill holes in it - the deep sand bed is in the frag tank, but it is getting better now.

As to the Bubbles - if u have it - your stuck with it, no matter the water quality, they have been with me for many years now. you just have to manage them.

The flow in the tank is about 100 000L an hour an the 2 polarios are AWSOME  just got them about a month back. i never had such good wave action in my tank.

I saw that tank yesterday, and it is brilliant!!!!

Dankie ed vir jou gasvryheid, mooi tank!!!

P.S die frags is n groot "addition" in my tank, en word baie waardeer!

Nice looking tank you have there. well done
