SHOCKING discovery..help guys

I added a ground probe and that was the worst thing I did.
Only because the that the earth leakage didn't trip. So if you add a ground probe, make sure it trips when there is voltage in the water.

If it doesn't trip when there is voltage in the water, you create a current. With the current you produce bleach from the saltwater. And that attacks the soft tissus of your pets.
 
ok guys so the electrician was here..seems that the boyus were not the problem. the main socket in the wall and the plug of the multi plug were messed up..I dunno how that would translate into me shocking while working in tank but volt meter did not pick up any stray electricity in water and electricity hasnt tripped

Just be careful with all this two pronge equipment. I had a SUN SUN which gave me I think it was below 20V stray voltage. Then I turned the plug around and had 230V in the tank. :eek:
 
ok..on 2nd guess I think the electrician wasnt 100percent correct after I shocked again. seems it was the sun sun pumps after all.

Question, if my equipment is "leaking" electricity will it use a lot more electricity? i can feel it with my finger when i have like a small cut on my hand.
 
Just remember that kids feel it a lot worse than grown ups. OK, maybe one way to keep their hands out of the tank... Only joking, put down the stones...

What I'm trying to say is that you can feel it, especially on a paper cut. But kids are more barefoot than adults. And it does feel a lot worst for them.

Having an earth on the tank, will remove that a bit. But that is if voltage is 10V or less. (Exact limit I do not know). Anyway, low voltage will not trip the power via the earth and its a good way to get rid of it. But high power SHOULD trip the house power. If it does not, it will cause electrolysis in the water, converting the salt in chloride and what not other poisonous elements. And bye bye livestock. So you do need to check the stray voltage frequently. And test the switchboard trip switches to be sure they will do what they are supposed to do one day.
 
Also remember damp salt creep is a conductor so make sure there is no salt creep near any electricity. Otherwise your plugs will burn out, trip electricity and shock the diddle out of you when you try unplug anything
 
I must still connect my earth to a plug so that it can trip if there is loose current. My tank is ok at the moment but you never know when escoms revenge might get you
 
No current in water at all is the way to go. Find the nasty short and lose that piece of equipment imo
 
Just think of the low voltage a salt chlorinator releases into pool? But it still chlorinates
