Thanks & listed below

Stunning step and some nice specimens you have there, can't wait to see the growth a couple of months time.

You and me both LOL - thanks a mill

very neat and professional setup well done!

Thanks so much

The sump area is very basic

  • Chamber 1 - overflow entry & TS1 skimmer, flows over into chamber 2
  • Chamber 2 - filter matt, carbon and Cermaic Rings, flows under into chamber 3
  • Chamber 3 - bubble / detrus trap, flows over into chamber 4
  • Chamber 4 - Phosphate Reactor (55g) & return pump
  • Also a ATO tank with R/O water
For dosing and as the tank is new I'm still checking
  • Pump 1 - 10ml Reefcode A
  • Pump 2 - 10ml Reefcode B
  • Pump 3 - 5ml Liquid Reef
  • Pump 4 - 5ml Magnesion
  • Prodibio - every two weeks (BioDigest - 1 ampule)
  • Prodibio - every two weeks (BioOptim - 1 ampule)
  • Prodibio - every two weeks (Stronti + - 1 ampule)
  • Prodibio - every two weeks (Iodine + - 1 ampule
  • Prodibio - not started yet (ReefBooster - need to be six weeks into routine)
Lights - wired into DB board on digital timers

That's about it and one pic of Picasso

One more shot of my Brain coral - was a skeleton when I got, and have nursed it for sometime now - so very happy with how it is doing now (Friends and family think I get too attached to my reef friends LOL)

Can you share with us what you did to get it to this state as well as pics if u have from the time u got it to this magnificent state?
I think a new thread would be best to keep clutter out of this one.

Hi Ziyaadb, will check if I have pics of when I got it (that is a good idea for the future). It literaly had lots of skeleton showing and flesh was receeding all over the place. Main things I did was, got it into a healthy system, & then fed it every second day some brine shrimp - had to be very small otherwise it could not eat. Brine Shrimp was soaked in Vita-Chem each time - always fed under a net (one of those freshwater breeding nets) so it could it take its time in eating. Now can feed pieces of fish & only once week.

Evening Folks,

Sorry for no updates etc, but have had a hard time with this tank. All fish that live in the sand (i.e. 4 x Yellowhead Jawfish & 1 x Fire Goby – had a burrow in the sand) died over a three day period. All other fish (1 x Picasso Clown, 1 x Carpenters Wrasse & 1 x Leopard Wrasse) all survived?

Still have no idea – Ammonis, Nitrites & Nitrates were at lowest level (Tropic Marin test kits). Still can’t explain it. Anyway did massive water changes & changed the tank a little.

  • Took away the deep sand bed on the RHS
  • Took out a lot of other gravel (now all shallow)
  • Added two pieces of Bio-Rock
  • Changed one 3000L p/h Sun Sun powerhead for a 6000L p/h
  • Cleaned the sump

Have also added some corals & on the positive side all my SPS have started to get colour (all were totally brown).

Here are a few shots of the new look – what you think?

Sorry for the delay in updates but have been avoiding the fact that this tank will be shut down - have reliazed that two tanks is just one too many for me to maintain properly & lookafter.

So my choices are, just keep my five foot tank going or upgrade to one larger tank (i.e. combine both tanks into one)

So have been getting quotes from LFS & builders (some mods to the house would be needed) so long, but alas, no matter which way I decide this tank has to come down - need to be relastic with my time.

Everything will be for sale once I have decided - will keep you posted (thanks for all the support)
