Enter the Dragon

Another problem rearing it's ugly head that I need to sort out soon.

Problem.jpg

Hey Anthony

Just remove the front and place it into a mild solution of hydrochloric acid to remove the CA. you then can clean the impeller and inside of the pump while it is left where it is. With all that CA your pump is only performing at probably less than 50%
I cant believe them Tunze's are still running.
They seem to blend into the whole reef so I would only clean the intakes.

George

awesome setup!!!
any updates

OMG if this pump still looks like this you should be put up against the wall next to an unzipped body bag and shot:) Please do Mikes mod. The difference will blow your socks off:whistling:

Shooting would be too kind a death for me.

But I'm on the path to bringing sexy back..
Seriously my tank has taken a back seat to life the last 6 months. I've had to make a few changes to accomodate growth and remove quite a few things.

I'll post some new pics soon ;)

So I've been trying to squeeze some time in amongst other things to spend some time on my tank. I needed to take the top off my cabinet to get into the tank and move things around. It's kinda like kids. When they babies you just want them to grow up and walk and talk. Then they become all independant and cheeky and you wish they were young again. Growth is posing problems for me. I keep running out of space.
Anyway I took a few pics with my cell phone today, so excuse the quality. Also without the cabinet hood in place they look very washed out because of the actinic glare.

Very nice Anthony - tank looks great, your powder blue looks very healthy ;) - I love 'em PB's

May 2007

Looks like a completely different tank. Definitely prefer the reef mount areas with the flushed open gulleys. Have you epoxied your rocks or are they doing the amazing balancing act.

That powder blue surgeon is a beaut. Have tried to catch our local ones but have never been successful. The imported ones always arrive in really bad shape and after one death i gave up. Need to try Spirulina or Beta Glucan on the next one

Either your camera is getting long in the tooth or you have forgotten how to take pics. All that reflection

This system has been running for just over a year now.

Mmmm, been so long that I've done an update that I've actually forgotten how to use my camera properly....
Tanks bouncing back a bit after some SERIOUS neglect, but I have this renewed energy at the moment so I've been spending some time on it lately. I even stripped one of my pumps down and cleaned it up - mostly because it kept screaming at me and the couch was getting uncomfortable to sleep on ..
Turns out the impellor is worn - George, I'll be seeing you soon.
I've also had to prune a bit because some of the colonies were getting to big and starting to wage war on each other. I left the hysterix too long resulting in a 70% loss of the mother colony. Damn stupid.
Anyhoo, I snapped a few tonight under actinics. It's easier to photograph at night because the day time glare is a PITA.

This favia has encrusted on the glass

your colonies are doing really well ant, awesome growth! may i ask why you have left a lot of space in your tank? you aiming more for giant colonies than amounts of species? how many fish do you have in there at the moment?
