My Red Sea Max 250 has just been purchased and is on its way to its new home, my lounge!

I'm so excited I could pee my pants!

Thanks to my LFS (Northlands Pets) for the great deal on the tank!
 
Got the chiller on back order to arrive some time in Feb, but by then the tank should have cycled, or at least be close to it so not too stressed about heat for now!

Hi Guys, sorry for no pics. thought there was no point yet since there isn't even live rock yet! its on its way today so ill upload some pics today.

I know I'm jumping the gun but I'm trying to plan what I want in the tank when I start to stock it. I have a list of fish that I definitely want, but the balance im just looking at for the moment. I'll definitely add the fish slowly as I said, just planning!

here is the list of definite fish.

2 Common Clown - male / female pair - (Amphiprion ocellaris)
1 Blue Surgeon (regal ) (paracanthurus hepatus)
1 Cleaner wrasse (labroides dimidiatus)
1 Six bar wrasse (Pseudocheilinus Hexataenia)
2 Pajama Cardinal (Sphaeramia nematoptera)
1 Manderin (synchiropus Splendidus) - Yes I know he can only be added at +- 6 months, but I'm keeping a space for him!

here is my list of maybe's (yes I know I cant have them all, i think 10 - 15 fish in total in the tank should be fine.)

1 Banana wrasse (Halichoeres chrysus)
1 Twin spot wrasse (angulartor)
1 Sailfin Tang (zebrasoma veliferum)
1 Fang Blenny (Meiacanthus Mossambicus)
1 Fire goby (Nemateleotris Magnifica)
1 Midas Goby (Ecsenius midas)
2 Blue Velvet /Monarck - male female pair (Neoglyphidodon oxyodon)

Please let me know what you think! I'm always looking for advice!
 
Cleaner Wrasse - Usually require alot of fish to clean off and feed off.
Manderin - Requires alot of live food and a well developed tank.

Besides that the regal and sailfin are awesome options. I have them both.

What inverts are you looking at keeping? and Corals?
 
Ill have to do a list for corals, not sure at the moment, i can "borrow" quite a lot from my work tank and my brothers tank so I'll take the corals as it comes. Going to need some turbo snails, some cleaner shrimp and maybe a starfish or two. Id like a hermit crab as well and maybe a nice clam! Our cleaner wrasse is perfect at work, he eats from any food we put in the tank so I really don't think one will be a problem, and the work tank has two manerins but we only put them in when the tank was +- 8 months old and they doing fine too! (2 years or so on)

Tube worms - various (Protula)
Sinularia brasica

Hard Corals

Frog spawn /anchor coral (Euphyllia divisa /ancora)
Fox coral (Seriatoptoa hystrix)
Rose coral (Trachyphyllia Geoffroyi)
Sun coral (Tubistria)
Moon coral (Lobophyllia Hemprichii)

I'm not dead set on any of these, but these are some of the ones I like, I suppose it will end up with what I can get my hands on.

and I'm definitely getting a 'nennie or two! but again, got to wait for that 6 month mark before I can introduce them!

will take my work cam home tonight for some proper pics, but there's not much to see so far. Still fiddling with skimmer settings and what not. Iv also put the tank too close to the wall so there's no space for the chiller pipes so im going to have to empty as much water as i can and bring the tank a little away from the wall so the accessory kit fits. sux!
 
Nice looking tank Dizzy, am I correct that it is 250l? Take away the amount of water displaced by LR and you close in on 200l quite quickly. I would suggest the "smaller" surgeon fish (Yellow tang, scopas tang) as both the Regal and the sailfin will quickly outgrow your tank. I too had a 4ft and within a year I was forced to upgrade or sell my regal and sailfin.
 
Ah, thanks MND123, i was concerned about the regal tang, i know that sometimes they're prone to nip at corals! ill scratch him off my list then!

Hi,

welcome and nice tank!

no need to worry about the Regal, they are completely reef safe, they will just grow very big soon,
