Morne's Nano

Guys,

I wanna add some chaeto, not so much for nutrient export, but mostly pod production.
Plan is to add 2 green bandeds and a mandarin as my last additions. So i need to increase my pod population incase i get the fussy ones.

How do you guys keep your chaeto in these tanks?

I keep it in my 3rd compartment. The flow from the water into the 3rd chamber makes the chaeto tumble quite nicely:thumbup: .i do get some chaeto stuck into the return pumps but a little bit of egg crating with some filter floss under the chaeto can sort it out. I for some reason dont have a lot of pods on my chaeto thoug. I need to re seed my tank with some pods. My wrasse wiped them.

Great stuff. Im thinkin off constructing a little acrylic box with a small pump attached at the bottom to keep it tumbling. and some small holes drilled in it so water can flow through aswell. Easy to lift the box to prune and protects return pump.

My 1st compartment i have my heater and eggrate stand stuffed with filter wool,
2nd, my skimmer intake with biocubes beneath it.
3rd skimmer outlet with phosguard beneath.
So the only place i can put it is in my 4th chamber above return pump and flow over there is very weak,

What you guys think?

I was also thinking about making an acrylic box for the cheato so that not so much gets through to the pumps, but the filter floss is doing quite a good job of that at the moment.

It probably would be good to have thing a bit more organized in the back.

The flow is quite weak in the last chamber and the problem is even if the flow of the additional pump does make it tumble the water from the tank won't really be passing over it so much. I would rather try get it in the third chamber. Then it can sit above the phosgaurd and the skimmer outlet should cause it to tumble.

another nano gem i have missed, great great tank!
keep it up and this is a sure totm

That is a problem.
What about the first chamber?

Problem is i wont get a light over it as the skimmer outlets pipe blocks almost the entire chamber

a single 3w LED will do, you can remove the back plastic cover and its clear glass, then light will get in

I have two 3w leds above mine, running off an old cellphone charger and it works really well.

It shouldn't trap too much, just rinse it out in the old tank water when you do a water change.

Hey guys

I have been dealing with cyano for the past month. Had a little patch on my sand and had big outbreak later. As in covered all my sand and all over my rocks.
Im glad to say that i conquered. Tested ca, kh and mg was a bit low. Upped in slowly and dosed bacteria everyday while doing this and cyano started dying off. Tank is currently cyano free and looking good again.
Ive been hectic busy at work and was slacking a bit on husbandry but im on the ball again.

Last night i noticed 1 off my chromis are missing, only to find it laying on the floor:(

Anyway, thats my update for now. Will post some pics when i get a chance.;)

You not alone, I wonder if its chromis dying week, I just lost 2 in a super healthy tank ?? And I had them for over 6 months???

Some updates, and additions
