Landing soon going to stir things up

Ok, so that helped a lot.....
I would rather rephrase.
What type of wattage are one looking at to cover a tank, 3m long, 1.2m wide, and 1m deep. And how many of the units?

If there are no lens options I would think the effective depth is a maximum of 60cm on any of these units. Concentrating lenses would improve the depth but decrease the coverage and would therefore increase the total amount of units required.

I know that doesn't answer your question but if they are totally lens free as stated before I would think deep tanks would be a problem. Interested to hear what @Submariner says.

Don't mention it:)

please pm us for prices and info on your nearest sponsor

In all fairness to the forum, and all the guys/gals on here, why don't you start a new thread with all the specifications and data. I think pms are tedious to say the least. This way you only need to do it once and then those that are interested can pm you. Also, I thought you are out of retail and only do wholesale?

I really dont know what all the disappointment is. Nathan has clearly been working very hard to bring a decent product in that is relatively cost effective, and I think he has achieved something that will affect the hobby in south africa, so from that perspective hes done what he stated.

From an overall hobby perspective, I cant see there being anything at present out there that is hobby changing other than an existing type of product (eg LEDs) getting better and cheaper.

If there was something that dramatically hobby changing, in all fairness, do you really think that South Africa would be the first place the developers send the product to? We would have heard about it on reefcentral or reefbuilders a few months ago.... or in all the MACNA writeups.

Kudos Nathan.

I reckon the thrive water test is a bit more revolutionary than an led light. Dont want to poop on anyone's parade but another led unit does not excite me one little bit :p

Guys watch this space for a hobby changing product that will blow your socks of.

:):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):)

Its going to change the way you keep livestock forever.

Will be available at sponsors soon.
@Monti, but Nathan said so himself. That's why some of us feel let down.

agree been jumping on daily and reading pages of replies...to find the.....revolutionary product is something that is readily available........kinda like a champagne bottle that doesnt pop.
anyhow....nice product at decent price i guess
more stuff that arrives in sa...more options for reefers i guess

back to the other threads

Yes but as I said...

LEDs have, for a while, been dominated by relatively high prices etc so I would think that this is pretty hobby changing for many reefers. Life changing- probably not... but then this is a hobby, nothing in it is meant to be life changing.

Its all about perspective on this one Im afraid. We still have a long way to get a piece of reefing equipment that pours us a cappucino whilst it cleans the skimmer cup and reads us the news.

Not really, there a few units out there in the same price range. Awsum product but sadly way over hyped.

Nice lights
Still a anti-climax
Thread should have said light changing product not hobby changing (or something to that creative effect)

Who said i was finished if you read this is only part one the huge game changer is still coming on Friday.

Please guys move all comments etc to the actual product thread this will make it easier for us to reply to everyone:)

Also regarding LED this is a game changer for LED lighting in South Africa there are zero light available that produce light in the same way these units do

Hi Bendor

Regarding unlensed LED units this is untrue unlensed units are more than capable of giving good par levels at 800mm or even deeper, with LED tech progressing so quickly Lenses will be soon a thing of the past.

Unlensed units also offer lots of benefits

Better light spread better compared to T5s with Metal Halide intensity
More even par levels (Less hotspots)
More natural coral growth
More natural looking light due to less disco effect
