Congratulations lIghty! Will hold thumbs for you. Unfortunately - except for the advice already given and that you found, I am not able to comment on this. How many pods do you perhaps have in the tank where you holding the fry in?

Do you have a lot of pods in your refugium/sump?

Perhaps add some chaeto from your refugium to the tank where you are keeping the babies - to have some pods available to them? Not sure if the copepods would be too big for them though.

Well times are good, there has been a couple losses, about 7, but some already seem to be getting bigger.

As long as there is enough food initial growth will be quick, you may have some setbacks as they reach certain stages when you need to try different foods and sizes.

I've read there is often a problem around 3 months, but at this stage all seems ok, lost a couple over the last few days, but I was expecting that.

Some are bigger than others, so I'm thinking of removing the smaller one to a seperate tank to give them a better chance of getting food, I think the larger ones are eating quicker and not giving the smaller ones a chance to find the food.

Just one thing I'm REALLY worried about is that I was using water from my reef tank to supply fresh water to the nursery for water changes, but I've recently lost more than half of my fish to marine velvet, as soon as I saw something was wrong I stopped, using Myaxzin to try treat my tank, do you think I should treat the nursery too?
 
If its White Spot (cryptocaryon) and you don't have inverts then try using reduced salinity. I think it will also help with velvet (oodinium). I would try to avoid using the reef tank water to do water changes until that is sorted out. My personal experience is that seahorses don't seem prone to getting white spot, but others might have a different experience. It could be white spot due to the frequent changes in water parameters if the make up water is of a different temp/pH/salinity/alkalinity, etc. If it was a very light outbreak I would have just stabilised the water conditions and the fish may become less stressed and fight it off on their own. Unfortunately that doesnt sound like the case. I don't like using chemicals much but that doesn't mean its not the right thing to do if the myxazin is helping.

I would definitely separate the larger seahorses from the smaller ones.

I bought a male and female seahorse today which came in as kuda but will still do a bit of checking to make sure.

Thanks Steve, the remainding fish have become stable now, no more deaths.

Hey Justin.Kepp some babies for me.Want to convert my 600 cube into a Seahorse tank.
 
How are the babies, those that get over the next week or two should stand a good chance. Did you get anything to gut load the brine shrimp with?
