So i have a new facination with smaller tanks, Nano's and pico's are the bomb!!!
So have a Jebo R series tank that holds 18L. It has a small trickle filter in the hood and a small canister filter for fitration. It has 1 T5 8w globe which i am replacing with a Dymax Energy saving fitting with 10k globe, and adding a Rio Moonlight unit for added blue.

For the filtering i will use Maxi-zorb carbon, and all the Microbe-Lift additives and products.

I also found these filter mats that are coated in resin, like poly-filters, which remove NH4, NO2, NO3 and PO4.
I will do a 1L WC every week and have 3kgs of LR with a few frags of SPS, my rics and zoas. if this works and is stable enough i might make a custon unit for those that want something small at work or around the house :)

here is the start and equipment

HA nice good to see the tank coming to use!!

Im seriously interested to see what you do with it!! Those filter pads are also very interesting,....will be tagging for sure

thanks!
planning on covering the base with zoas and rics and one cool piece of pink hesterix

yip, tank is only 20deep and i am adding 12LEDS

Gonna watch this :) .. I have a 100L just sitting around

Sounds cool, I am a fan of pico's when done right. :)

just 2 things...if you are not planning on any ATP and temperature controlling measures the sps won't make it, had a green birdsnest in my pico...while the weather was still cold and evaporation didn't occur too much it was fine, but as soon as temps started going up and evaporation occurred faster than I could manually top up it died within days...also the rio lights and dymax led's won't be sufficient...they pretty crappy actuAlly :p I bought a few rics from someone keeping them in a pico with those lights and they had lost so much colour and shrunk so much that they are still not back to normal in my tank.

thanks!

I have some cool zoa colours when you in the area;)

Sounds like a cool little setup.

Looking good Dallas

I'm curious about the Filter Pads. Are they meant for the Canister filter? Or can they be used in other applications like in a sump?

I've never seen these filter pads in our local pet stores.

the LEDS are too bad, i added my own lenses bought from rapidled.com, the other unit is a PL globe, as for temp i have heater and its set to 22, as the room its in is aircondition and great air flow

I have some cool zoa colours when you in the area;)
be there in April

Sounds like a cool little setup.

My tank is like the same shape but its like 2ft high lol.. Think I would rather drill it and slap an overflow, little sump and big DSB.. Maybe next year :)

You recon those pads work?

I have been using the same stuff in another size in my overflow pipe... and getting amazing results.... So I'm sold on these..Thanks @dallasg they work like a dream... (I hope you guys are referring to the Milk Filter socks..) ;)

hahaha nice to see you've got a little pico! Looking forward to seeing this running! :) I'm also wondering if you'll need to increase the light, even on such a small tank...
