Its a DIY led unit. Im currently running 60 x 3w led chips and I will be adding another 20 X 3w chips when I get time. I also have 4 X 39w T5 ATI tubes as well. I like the LED and T5 mix as it takes away the shadows leds tend to create.

Im not sure how I manage to keep my tank algae free. Do my weekly 40 % water change - With NSW - all I do to the NSW is add CA to bring it up from 380 to 450ppm and then add buffer to my tank.

I also have purigen/Nitrat-r(I accidentally mixed it when I regenerated it and then Phosguard - all in bags on a DIY media rack , and chaeto. and off course a skimmer.

Ill take a pic of my sump tonight.

Thanks David. I really love that sea fan so I am giving it extra care. Feed it twice a week. I also think it likes the flow in that position.

I purchased them from EBAY. Not sure which supplier on there. I paid R1000 for 100 3w LEDS/heatsinks and optics, and then R500 for the driver. I had to connect the leds to the little heatsink. See below.

Its very very time consuming to do this. But I saved money and I love my unit. but you can burn your fingers if you buy things from EBAY. I have done a couple of these DIY units. So I have paid my school fees.

@4age, doing well. Slow grower but my nutrients are a bit low. Maybe i need to target feed it a bit more and I also want to add to my bioload. Ill post a pic of it tonight.

I just read above saying I do a 40% water change a week. I meant to say 40L water change a week.:blush:
