Brett's minimalist shallow reef

Update

Got the sump built over the weekend. I tested my silicone skills while building the sump to make sure they were good enough for when I build my DT. I did a lot of masking and I dont think it came out to bad if I may say so myself  Just dont look at the compartments in the sump because by then I was sick of masking:tt2:

me too!!!.. original plan was to make a room in the corner but it wasn't really going to work out.

The talk of giving up in terms of masking the edges reminds me of when we did your last tank and used that silicone with the yellowish tint for the front joins instead of the good quality clear stuff :whistling: Good thing the difference wasn't too noticeable :p

Haha think it was yellow because we made it so thick. I don't think it was to bad for a first tank build, had to just make sure it wouldn't fail so piled the silicone on thick. We were noobs.. :tt2: That tank is very strong though
Oh and we talking about your tank @brentch.

Some more stuff arrived today! Now I can get cracking and build my DT now that I have the overflow. Need to drill holes! Love the look of this overflow! main reason why I bought it. It seems very well made, everything is machined from solid plastic and even comes with plumbing  hope it works well.

The Radion PRO just about blinded me and is already programmed. cant wait to see it over the tank!

where did you buy the overflow from and how much did it cost you!! looks amazing and i did the exact some thing when i first got the radion!!

everything looks AMAZING!!!!!!!!!!

this is building up to an amazing tank!!

Lol, the radion tends to blind you the first couple minutes after switching on the first time ;)
I must say, that overflow is starting to grow on me a little...
Cant wait to see your tank running...

Imported the overflow from the UK. They are only available there at the moment. Looking at the design though, I doubt I am going to get it as silent as I would like it since my tank is in my room. But will be testing it out tonight.

would you mind pm me where you got it from and the total cost with importing(duties etc.) and the actual cost

thanks

LoL well there is no need for earplugs! Tested the oceanlife overflow last night and I am very impressed. I have no idea how its so quite but it is. It has to plumbed using flexible hosing with gradual bends to keep it really quite though.

Got my glass drilled today. Building the DT tomorrow.
