Yellow Belly Damsels spawned today!

On a roll there Marcel, keep up the good work.

@ Sean, you say you would give a kidney to see the fish room- that might help, but you would have to get past me first seen as I have been placed on gaurd to protect the fish room. (ZOMBIE'S don't sleep)

I was concentrated with my work about the yellow bellies and dominos, I totally forgot to set up the larvae snagger last night and a whole batch of albinos went through the overflow. Shit happens!
 
As you guys can imagine the value of a batch of albinos. That hurts. The good thing is, in two weeks I will get more.
If I succeed with the yellow bellies, it was worth it. But there you can see, how busy my mind is with this bloody damsels.
Tomorrow morning I should have around 1000 larvae, if they hatch all in one night. Usually, if I pull the pot, the hatch over two nights.
I am prepared to raise around 600 to 800 larvae. I am going to split the batch in case something goes wrong. Also it will give me a better feeling about how good my technique is.
From what I know Chrysiptera species take rotifer from day 1. Now you must know, you get rotifers in different sizes. I don´t have the smallest rotifers.
If the damsels will eat them, then I will have a very good chance to get the majority through Meta.
Crucial days are day 5 and around day 20. That is what other breeders experienced with Chrysiptera.
I got a prety good explanation for the total crash before Meta. SFS.
Raising damsels for 3 weeks in greenwater, means raising them with lack in fatty acids, vitamins, etc.
I am going to raise them on rotifer, enriched with my new "Red Pepper".
First feeding will be tomorrow around 3pm. The yolk sac should be empty until then.
On coming Sunday we will know, how good I am or not.

That is the point. And that is why I forgot to set up the snagger for the albinos last night. Now everything is sorted and the damsels can come.

Bad news and good news.

I had a very bad night. I was dreaming of raising the damsels. Even when I woke up many times during the night, the same dream went on.
And I messed it up.

The good news is, I will be awake when I raise them.
The bad news is, they did not hatch.
The good news is, they must hatch tonight.

Yellow belly damsel eggs hatching in the fourth night after spawn by 29 degrees C.
The parents are swimming, due to lack of tanks, in the grow out system, which is running with 27 degrees C. The system contains 50 mg nitrat per litre and there are no lights above this tank. Just the room light. All conditions in there are far from perfect for breeding purposes.

This damsel story is really getting to me. I am so tired.

That's the whole idea lol:razz: to keep you going. To be honest I'm like that normally & I feel that If I can help someone achieve their goal then I have achieved mine & learned alot along the way. So Marcel don't expect me to wear a cheerleaders outfit with pom poms ok!!:lol: Just know that if you have achieved even the tiniest goal, you know who to thank. he he
 
I just checked the eggs and as expected almost half of them are white, because they are for too long (24 hours) without the male. Let´s see tomorrow morning, how many larvae hatched. It looks like, the pair need their pot back soon and she is going to spawn again. In that shit water, without light, so it must be the food.
Tomorrow around 9.30am, I will post some numbers, etc.
 
White don't sound good I cringe when my killie eggs start to turn white pity you can't put methlyn blue with the eggs to protect them from fungi which turns the eggs white. :(. Holding thumbs for you buddy:thumbup:. Maybe they need some motivation :slayer::slayer::slayer: Go fishy Go come you can dooooo it! :slayer::slayer::slayer:
