Seahorse birth today!

Good possibility. The sting could have caused an infection. It doesn't take a hugh amount of aiptasia. Seahorse are not smart enough to stay away, they will go back for more abuse.

Thanks Michael!

Wow!!!! Seadragons! Thats an animal that I won't touch. Way too many special requirements, and they need a really tall tank. Most seahorses, if not all, are at risk to become extinct. Harvesting has to stop. We really need to concentrate on raising them in captivity.

Brenda i am very well aware of raising them in captivity & what environment to create to make them feel at home. I would rather want to join to help save these guys http://www.knysnaseahorse.co.za/

Please tell us more! I've only seen seadragons once....at a public aquarium. They are breath taking!!!! They are very difficult and extremely expensive to get here. I don't want one.....I don't think I'd be able to take care of it, but I'd love to learn more about them.

The knysna is a beautiful seahorse!

Expensive yes indeed I found a site selling weedy sea dragons for $2,900.00 each. Ouch nasty on the pocket hey!!!! Here's the link if anyone is interestedhttp://www.riverwonders.com/p-97-weedy-sea-dragon-show-specimen-5-6.aspx

Ja boet that price is a bit hectic but the people will pay just because it's a sea dragon.
BTW I have just found out that they have found the leafy sea dragon in hawaii hows that for a positive outlook hey WOW I was so excited when I heard about that. HaHa now oz can't state that the leafy sea dragon only lives in their waters, shame that must have burst their bubble.

I have not been able to find either of the above on the internet. If anyone comes across a link, please post.

MistaOrange, I’m not surprised about the 40%....But that may be for the best. Some things are best left alone and unknown.

Jacques I'm passing on info that I received a few days ago from a friend that's a marine biologist & is currently doing research in the hawaii area. If it's true that would be a bonus good for the sea dragon population & I can't find any info on this neither. I think that they are trying to get more information before they announce this discovery.
