Propogating an Ritteri Anemone H. Magnifica

My dad has his own electrical business and actually has 2 of the 150W so i think i will use both. Would i be able to just use those 2 then, without needing the quad system?

er..... 125w mh?

MH is normally available in 70w/150w/175w(very rare) and 250w/400w.

Even your wattages on your t5 seem off,can you post some pictures of your actual globes showing watts?something doesn't seem right to me....:whistling:

t5 globes come in 24w/39w/54w/80w....

I think it's one of those "HO" units which do come in 96W..?
 
yeh sorry, the MH aren't 125W, there was a printed mistake on the boxing it came in. It is 150W. and i have 6x 39W bulbs now. Have a quad system and a single system with 2 T5 bulbs.
 
Are you sure the bulbs are T5's and not PC lights?

PC bulbs come in 96W and would be the correct length for that fitting.

Ok,that sounds corrrect.whats your exact tank dimensions(lxbxh)?

and how high of the water surface are these globes mounted?
 
90cm long
and 30 cm wide, and 50 cm high. Light is about 8 cm above water surface

In that case the 6 x 39w sounds like sufficient lighting for that size tank,just be sure that you have good quality globes....and a nice mix between white and blue/actinic.
Dont get more than 6 x 39w t5's in that size tank...

Is the anemone still moving today,hows your tank water parameters looking?
Can you give us some values.
 
I have run out of testing kits will probably get tomorrow. The anemone is at the fish store i bought it at, and the owner has agreed to keep it for me till everything gets on par. It did not look to bad this morning but thought i would keep it there till i have everything right. Would the addition of the 150W metal halide still be beneficial to the tank?

If your information is 100% correct and you have 6 x 39w t5's with proper globes(what brand/name do you have btw?) then no, adding a 150w mh will be over kill for a tank of dimensions 90x30x50cm.

Just be sure that you have good globes,adding a 150w mh could even add heat issues to that size tank.Hence i dont recommend over lighting your reef.
 
ODDYSEA. Can i use the MH then for a 1m long, 35 wide tank, 50 high tank. It would be just that light in the tank? ok for keeping corals and anemones?

not enough for anemones,just enough for a few soft corals,maybe some zoas in that size tank...........the main issue is light spread from a 150w mh wont cover a tank that size well enough and then you might raise it,resulting in even less light hitting the tank.
