Nathan's 200L Starfire Rimless tank

Hi @birkettN.
Congrats on your setup.
What is the purpose of the styrofoam under the back legs of the stand?
If it is for support or levelling, I would advise replacing it with metal plates or similar which is not compressible?

If it was placed for some other reason, could you please explain?

It is for levelling, just temporarily until I find something better.

I basically put it there to keep the stand elevated slightly so that I can slide something else under.

R5 coins would work as well, and they do not rust :)
Alert steel (or all steel shops I assume) will have steel plate squares 100 x 100mm, in various thickness. I would get those in there before the final scaping, as lifting a full tank will be a challenge.

Also, since it appears to be laminated flooring, I would place a square under each leg anyway, just to spread the weight, and provide some protection to the floor.

Welcome, enjoy your new hobby!

Very good advice by gesiggie. We have laminate in the store and although we used 4 rubber squares the weight of the tanks the legs has dug deep into the floor.

Also get a rubber mat around the perimeter, you ARE going to mess lots of salt water on the floor.

I blink and this tank is already up and running! Looks really great and am loving the progress! At the rate you are going you will have stock in it before my tank

Being buying some corals, in quarantine and will most likely add them in the next two weeks ;)
Also trying to figure how to catch a few of the fish in my 250 without tearing it down o_O

Your rock structure is awesome, what are you planning on stocking?

Nice choice!
If I can make a suggestion for the mandarin, train it to eat frozen foods before adding it, this will save you a lot of headaches ;)

Update :

Put my old T8 unit ontop of my tank just so that I can see what's happening in there lol.

I see tiny bits of red/pink growing on my dead live rock which I hope is coralline algae, which my live rock has plenty of.

I've changed my rock structure to how I want the final positioning to be.
Rocks lying at the bottom on the left will eventually be a pile/wall up along the overflow corner, with the pillar structure on the right and an arch between the two. ( Rock on the top of the pillar structure kinda looks like a weird face :p )

I've had my skimmer running and it seems to be skimming something from the water.
I forgot to tell you guys I had 2 tiny starfish and a crab sneak in on my LR which I lost behind the rock work and haven't seen since, so they might have died and helped along with the cycle.

I also did a Nitrite test earlier and it's sitting at a low 1 mg/L reading, I'm not sure whether its on the rise or the fall, will test again on Sunday.

Getting my LED's end of the month, as well as some more rock.

That's it for now :) :peroni:

I like the rock forming an arch. Placing corals are going to be waaay too much fun!

Do you only have one flow pump? Does it provide sufficient flow for your system?

Did you check your nitrates today?
