Eventually posting my first thread on MASA of the new tank setup that my twin brother and I have started. This tank has been in the process of being setup over the last 2 months.
As everyone will recognise Sidney’s old tank from Rustenburg, as if that’s not enough pressure on its own
. We will give it our best shot anyway. All comments and suggestions will be greatly appreciated.
Tank Setup (So far):
· Idol Marine Starphire Tank – 1.5m x 1.0m x 0.6m(high) Skinny overflow, stand and sump. DT = 900l + Sump 300l.
· Custom panels by Sidney
· Vertex Illumina 1200 SR260 LED Lighting (Absolutely amazing lights)
· Reef Octopus 5000 Skimmer
· Waveline DC5000 Return pump
· JNS Zeovit Reactor
· Vertex Reactor – Carbon
· Hydor 300W heater x 2
· Jebao WP40 x 3 (Awesome pumps)
· Reef Angel Controller – Work in progress
· Dosers x 2 – Still to be connected
I must say that being very new to the hobby the help I have received has been absolutely amazing. Special thanks to Nathan(TSR) @Submariner, Bryan(Jungle Aquatics) @bryan and Louis(Idol Marine). All the calls and visits to the stores with, in my opinion, stupid and silly questions. All of them, being busy and shop full of customers, took the time and gave me the advise I needed.
Just the collection of the tank from Rustenburg should have prepared me that this was not going to be as easy as I thought. The drive back to JHB was nerve racking on its own, with tank and sump on the back of the bakkie and the stand and cabinets on a trailer. Sidney also advised on 8 guys but went with only 6 in total, wish I had taken his advice.
Did not have time to post during the tanks progress but still have all the pics.
