Frans's Ultra Shallow Reef

Small update

Stand is in its place....tank built ,sump ready.

I decided to go for a smaller sump @ 1,2 mtr as I want to leave space for my brine shrimp hathcery and whatever else :p

Tomorrow I will play with scaping ideas and fill .....due to water restrictions no time for FW test ....

Cool! Can't wait! Where is the pics!!!! :whistling:

Your tank might also need a frogspawn.

Frans lekka dimensions, going to be cool to see scaping

459b, i want a frogspawn like that

Nice Frogspawn but the dwarf two spot lionfish below it is much much nicer!!!! ;)
gald to see someone is awake! or did Frans tell you about it?

Hey r that a leeuvis or what? hahahaha!!! I shall train mine up and that one will lose!!
The word you looking for is Dendrochirus biocellatus. And until your tank has cycled i dont think you should buy anything.

LOL Dave , no he actually noticed by himself...for a Vaalie he's quite observant !

Ditto on the advice.

Unfortunately when re building the tank I couldnt remove the overflow without the possibility of breaking the glass pane (and getting 10 mm glass cut in Hermanus....:whistling:) so now I have a overflow in front .....will have to see how I can hide it effectively

hear what you are saying..I am happy to cut glass, up to 8 mm no probs...10 mm a bit more effort but also do-able.....UNFORTUNATELY getting a piece of glass to cut where I stay is not that easy, no use in buying a big piece to replace a pane 300 x 700 ;)

So I will live with that "flaw"...if this setup works like I hope it will I will be going 2 mtr x 2 mtr..

Frans, when I see this tank, then I see the canadian Vulcano tank. Some mangroves would be great in there. A fat nennie with fat clowns. BTW, do you still got my clarkiis?

Thats what I had in mind. In the middle a big fat porcellain crab! Awesome!
Maybe some saddlebacks for the nennie as well.

Porcellain crab would be amazing!
i was thinking black ocellaris with the green nennie but saddlebacks would also look good.

Ocellaris dont go into a carpet. Thats why I recommended saddlebacks.;)
Monde has some nice looking saddlebacks if you can remember, David.

Problem with such shallow and open top tank is, any well known carpet surfer have to stay out of this tank.
