I am running a ZT6600 on my Juwel and I am very happy. For the first time, lately, I have some algae on the sandbed, which I've never had before, but I cannot say that is the lights. Personally I think it is the warmer water. I have acclimatised my coral to the lights over a two week period.

What tank do you have and how many lights are you running. Was thinking of adding one ZP4000 to a Rio 300 with the two existing ballasts. Alternating lighting during different times of day

Or running one juwel ballast and 2 ZP4000 s

I was considering buying the Lancia's (ZP4000) for my Vision 450, but it would've worked out more expensive to buy 4 of those than 1 ZT6600. I've taken the top off and now hang the led from the ceiling. I only have one light on my 1.5m tank. It just made more sense to me to have a much better, more controllable light, for cheaper than the Lancia. It was a big concern taking the top off, but now, after it's running like this for some months, I much rather prefer the top off than on. Only downside is the evaporation that increased A LOT.

My current housing setup doesn't allow for hanging and I'm not sure If the ZT6600 or 6500 will span enough to cover the Rio. Rim is 121cm... Thus considering adding 1 or 2 Lancia to the existing ballasts one on second row and one on third row and then still run blue or marine juwel globes on row one and three.

Alternatively running 2 standard sets of juwel ballasts. Flaps removed and single Lancia between the two t5 ballasts for "night light and condensed light in central part of tank? Ideas? ....

Not sure if you will get enough light with running only 2 standard ballasts and Lancias only at night.....I could be wrong. My tank is 150cm and the ZT6600 does lose a little bit of light on the sides, but not so much that the low-light coral placed there does not get enough light. The ZT6600 are too big for me to hang 2, so one will have to do. I think running 2 ballasts and 2 Lancias will be perfect, this was one of my options as well.

The ZT series comes with a handy bracket which allows the light to 'stand' on the tank as well, but I fee a bit uncomfortable having something like that which could be knocked over....

Will 2 ballasts with two globes each and 2 Lancia fit on the Rio? But I'll see next year. Haha setting up cost me a bit already. Did you drill the juwel?

Hi, sorry I misread your previous post. 4 globes and 2 Lancias will be fine, just pricey! :) No, I did not drill it, using a hang on back skimmer.

That's why I was thinking 4 x t5s and 1 Lancia in the middle.
I'm thinking of drilling.... Already built an overflow box...

Strange enough, all my corals are looking extremely happy, except my pulsing xenias. :confused1:
Any way, I just bought a nice big piece of live rock with a few SPS frags on them, its been in for about a week. I'll report back on the progress.
