Question??? Gonna use a 500ml bottle to drip (DIY) so exactly how much should I add to the 500ml RO water ?
 
hi guys. my question is using he pharmacy slack lime. with normal kalkwasser we add 1 teaspoon to 1lt of ro. would it be the same using the slack lime ????
 
Anybody used Pinnacle Slacked Lime BP? This is the brand they have at Wynberg Pharmacy

Yes, it's the same stuff - well, being BP grade, perhaps a bit purer than the expensive LFS bought product...

Topping up with lime water is good - just make SURE that you won't accidentally dump a large volume into the tank.

Limewater is not very soluble, and the usual recommendation is to add half a teaspoon of slaked lime per liter of RO water. It would make no difference if you added one, two or even ten teaspoons per liter, except that you would be wasting money (adding less than half a teaspoon per liter would obviously result in the lime water not being saturated, which would thus add less alkalinity and calcium...). Once the water above the lime sludge has cleared, it will still only contain approximately 0.0204 moles per liter CaCO3 equivalent. So, just mix half a teaspoon per liter, let the mixed water stand until it clears (a few hours), and then carefully pour off the clear water into your dripper.

Sorry .... Firstly ..... Noobs not to follow this route ..... its just a question NOT a suggestion .... Is there any member out here NOT dosing kalk to their tank with no ill effects?

I tried dischem and came up short yesterday
