So haven't had the best start with this little bugger (as you mentioned), he is not eating frozen food. But my front acro is definately losing skin. Will give him a little while to settle down by may have to extract him if he doesn't start eating mysis or brine.

Strange tho, not many articles mention that they will actually eat acros for food. Most articles mention the benfits of a symbiotic relationship with SPS good read here: http://reefkeeping.com/issues/2002-10/hcs3/index.php

If the acro is loosing skin....i can tell you its not him....they tend to only nip the polyps. When they perch on the acro a lot...it can cause a dead spot....but his not been in tour tank long enough for that.

What are your water params at? is the acro loosing flesh from the base?
 
So maybe you can help me solve this. Coral was looking great until I put him in.

The coral also has a acro crab hosing since I got it without issues, no skin loss for a week. This crab moved from another acro, which also had some loss of skin (when I got it) but seems to be growing now.

Is it random that they both chose that acro? or is the acro possibly distressed?

The Acro goby it literally squeezing himself right into the acro. to hide.

New lights the only other change. But this guy is halfway down compared to some corals much closer.

Water para.

Alk 8.4
Cal 425
Sal 1.025
Po4 0

That what I test for at the moment.

my experience with the acro crabs is they will move around as they see food particles etc...so meaning they will keep an eye out, notice where your flow is taking food etc when you feed and move to position a bit better to improve chances of getting a bite to eat.

i have never had issues with them damaging corals....espexially honeycomb guard crabs and bandit acro crabs. i alsways remove the move fluffy ones...they tend to cause damage.

if the acro gets worse....try moving to a diffefent flow area and watch for improvement. you can also dip in a iodine dip like medi coral. and if RTN sets in frag healthy bits.....and super glue or hot melt glue.

water looks fine based ob that snapshot...however with SPS stability is key.....track it daily/every seconds day....and make sure you have no spikes....or dips...

Also are you running GFO? Actively or passively?

Hence me asking if you are running any GFO in a reactor? If not....perfect. If you do....i would advise against it...espexially in a SPS nano....it impacts Alk significantly , and it can strip sps flesh or tips in a wink of an eye. A simple mesh bag in the sump in a low to medium flow is sufficient.
 
I am currently, I'll switch it off and see if that helps.

My Hanna phosphate reader is the Pppm version, so I always assume 0 means there is still some phosphates and I have some macro algae growth so assume it's not nil.

My really low NO3 still puzzles me slightly. I say 0.25 but really the test water still looks clear / white more than pink.

@JS also just read something now that kalk may cause PO4 to pratcipitate and reduce further. Then I remembered that I added a batch to my ATU two days ago.

corals look healthy. yeah....that is some bad tissue damage. if it gets worse, try to frag those branches off. that would not have been the coral goby. was def a water parameter spike/dip. keep things stable and it should be fine.

Found two more crabs on the acro that is growing so fast.

My red sea DIY fish tank cover will be here today so can play around with setting that up later.

My flame angel should be here sometime this week. So at least he will be safe from jumping out.

Have been feeding a little more heavily. Just making a note in case things start to look bad.
