Hi,

I'm Wouter. Living in the Centurion area. I just bought my first Marine Tank 2 weeks ago.
Now the salt water is in and I added the sand.

Here some picture of my setup.

The Tank, 100x55x60cm, holding around 275 liters of water

The tank on the cabinet. Its a metal frame with wood work around it.

In the cabinet is the sump, 100x45x40cm, holding around 90 liters of salt water and 25 liter of fresh water for the auto-Topup

Very cool looking setup!! Simple is best and you got that going great! When you planning on adding your live rock? what are your long term plans for the tank?

Future plans

Hi,
Tomorrow I’m going to pick up my live rock at the Dorry Pets. That is cured for 2 weeks, so I have to do an extra couple of weeks. So this weekend is reserved to do some aquascaping.

I would like to do corals in the future but I’m not ready yet. First I want to learn how to deal with a marine tank. When I know what is going on. I will extend, buy more lights and so on.

Welcome Wouter.

Nice tank. Starting nice and slow, that is the best way to do it.

Welcome :) .. You have a nice and neat set up there

Looks like a fantastic start! Well done :) And welcome to masa!

One question is how deep is the sand bed in your sump? I would make it at least 15cm...

D

Deep sand bed

Hi,

Just measured my sand bed, it's around 13cm deep. Will see if I'm going to add some more sand.
Is deeper better or is 13 deep enough?

Wouter

Welcome to MASA, nice tank you got there. Seeing that you're new to marines, read the link on starting a marine tank below - great info ;)

should be at least 15cm.. So if you can, try and go deeper
