Hey all

I have read a few threads on MASA where a sponsor will get slated by a member of MASA for not meeting his or her expectations.(thank goodness this is not me)Whether its justified or not or even if it warrants a mention on this forum is not what this thread is about. This thread is about in fact the opposite which Im sure not many members have thought about.
A small example,we as sponsors go out of our way to assist any member and sometimes the member is the one who needs to be mentioned on the forum. When this happens I know we as sponsors try keep our noses clean and don't report this on the forum as its bad for business but it happens probably more often than the sponsor giving bad service.
I had a situation where a member put a request through on this forum looking for a very specific item of stock that none of our sponsors carry. It typically is a low cost item and needs to be imported.
I put myself out and offered to import the item. The member agreed and thanked me to go the extra mile.
To cut a long story short the item landed,we paid VAT,customs and even priceed it at a loss as we wanted to match the price the customer had seen online.
To date the customer has not even collected the item despite many attempts to contact them.
Now I have an item I cant sell or even use.
Its not the money we spent on it but more the time and effort it took to obtain and then not to even to have the customer get in his car and drive the 20 min to collect....
In future take payment upfront I know you will all say but as the item was relatively low cost and I just had more faith in a member who came from this forum so I felt it was not necessary.
I have moved on in the interests of good business and put this behind me.
I just wanted to make a point of saying that it is not only the customer who receives the raw deal sometimes...

well put, yes the customer is king, but not correct :)

so what is this item, maybe auction it?

Thanks Dallas...its really low cost no not worth auctioning...like I said not the monetary value that is the issue...don't mind losing the money..more the time taken to make it happen

it can be a real problem and in fact not only with sponsors .. I've seen many people bid for items in the for sale forums and then disappear leaving the seller waiting in vain. but that's how business is. I deal with IT and every time someone orders something that I don't keep in stock I ask for a deposit.. not something I like to do (I don't do it for regular customers) but I've learned the hard way. unfortunately we live in a world where kindness is not always appreciated

Yip some customers are bad. A customer ordered a product. We advised against it and also advised on what should be ordered. Customer forced the issue. Item was delivered and then the complaining started. Customer even used said product and was happy to show it off in public but refused to pay. It was a long and crap process to get our final money but we took a big loss on the work.

Custome is now happily showing off the product to every Tom, Dick and Harry and they now getting more business because of it.

So I agree with @flappy. I feel you.

How much are the loves btw?
