Shopping List for total newbie

welcome to the masa club, once u get involved and start up your own system its like a new discovery, it will take up a lot of your own personal time ie. all water changes either weekly or daily for a coral tank, doing all water tests regularly ie. calcium, magnesium, nitrate, nitrite, phosphate, alkalinity, kh, and ph.

Once u get the grips of it, its not that difficult and u will be able to make out what is lacking. It will be very difficult to give up the hobby once u start, and that is guaranteed.

Should u need info check on the site u cannot go wrong. Well Bee79 good luck and I hope u make the right chioce. I am also in Westville Just around the corner. I have a 6ft marine tank and a 5ft coral tank both with 4ft sumps, one has the 2 cheaper skimmers and I had to invest in a far better quality skimmer for the coral tank.

Hi Bee, I am also reletavely new to this hobby, but I can tell you to keep asking questions here. The info is for free and whats making it even better-lots of the old hands giving advice are really pro's.

good aproach asking first you will save a hell of alot of money with the info given by the folk on this site. good luck welcome and enjoy...
 
one of the main things you have to decide is what type of system you want to set up thay normally fall into 2 catagories a fish only or a full reef. this will also determine what equipment you will need.

Hi guys! great forum.
Here is my question.
I'm trying to set up multiple tanks with a sump.
What are the equipments i really need?
I know of protein skimmer, return pump...
Do i need anything else? for a tank of 200 to 300 gallons.

More importantly, do i need a drain pump?
