One of the benefits of a fairly natural system is the huge amounts of zooplankton. Copepods like these ones swarm throughout the system, providing extra food for fish and coral:

Mmm. Still is. Just spent a sweaty morning putting in and automating fans in the greenhouse. Next up, replace the rotten bits of the door and add a fly screen vent. Fun fun fun.

lol and ive spend the day in massive jackets, gloves and beanie putting up 20mm insulation into a barns walls so i can convert it into my fish room and conference centre. fly screen not needed here, we just freeze the buggers

There have been a lot of ups and downs. Things haven't been particularly good. I've had a lot of water quality issues, particularly with rainwater getting into the system. Things are getting better at last. Not really ready to post an update yet, though.
