Restarting 250 MAX

This year I decided to get back into the hobby and restart my old tank, it’s been sitting and just collecting dust in the garage. Bought a pico thinking it would be a fun little tank but actually just caused so many problems and could never get it right.

This week finally my Red Sea max 250 is up and running, I know it’s an old tank but I still enjoy it a lot. Was installed by saving liquid designs on the forum, did an amazing scape and awesome service from them.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated, basically a noob again missed out on many things first time round

I’ve been reading up on the Red Sea reef Mature Pro kit and decided I’ve wanted to use it on my tank. Can anyone give me any advice on this product or any negative and positive experiences you’ve had with it.

I used it with my Red Sea Max C250... worked wonders. I am very pleased with it. Does what it says on the bottle (if you do what it says)!

Did you use live rock or Artificial? I saw some reviews of people having problems when using it with artificial rock...

Tested water today before Im going to add any live rock or use the mature pro kit.

Ammonia-0.4
Nitrite-0.05ppm
Nitrate- 0.00

Also is the only cause of micro bubbles a leaking skimmer or a faulty return pump?

Or a too low water level in the return chamber, waterfall is pulling air bubbles down that the pump sucks in and chops it into millions of fine bubbles.
A picture will help to clarify this.

+1 to what @RiaanP said. How high/low is the overflow gate? You can also double check that the pump is securely fitted into the skimmer body as that can also let the bubbles escape.

Checked the return chamber at water level was way too low, so filled it up and water is clear of the bubbles. (Lol noob mistake)

Also installed the new ATI lights and tank looks great.

Checked the return chamber at water level was way too low, so filled it up and water is clear of the bubbles. (Lol noob mistake)

Also installed the new ATI lights and tank looks great.

I used artificial rock in my setup... you can just search for my post with pics of my tank. I had no problems with the artificial rock and the product. I also used a small amount of 'dry rock' in the setup. I am sitting at the 3 month mark and must really update my thread.

Great thanks for letting me know, was on the fence about the kit but think
I’m going to give it a try.

Did you end up adding the CUC without algae growth or just left out the day 10 instructions?
