Restarting 250 MAX

Just a small update, Chiller is in and now I’m ready for coral! Got some exciting additions coming this week, will post lots of pics when they arrive!:slayer:

How is the filtration system on the red sea 250

In my experience, I haven’t had any major issues with the filtration thus far. The only adjustment I have made is completely removing the mechanical filtering part (filter pad) as when it gets too clogged, the return chamber empties and the skimmer goes crazy due to the rise of the water level in the chamber. Other than that it does a pretty good job. I run Chemi-pure Elite, Dymax 250 Carbon and standard Red Sea ceramic rings. Will maybe look into installing a new Tunze skimmer in the future, but so far no problem with my skimmer only that the skimmer pump causes a lot of heat. :cheers2:

Got 3 new additions today; 2 hermits and a sailfin Blenny. Thanks to @MoeGaus for the great deal and for dropping them off at my house, really great guy. More stuff coming this weekend:thumbup:

What is the blenny eating? You have enough algae for him

Congrats on your new purchases, don't forget to share some pics of the hermits, don't want them to feel neglected ;)

Unfortunately the hermits are on a mission and going in and out of all the rocks in the tank, so until they have found what they are looking for, I can’t get a pic :tt2: but in the mean time the blenny found a well camouflaged cave for himself, he’s just chilling :m41:

Hi guys, just wanted to ask all you a question. My blenny hasn’t really moved from his spot in my tank, and only occasionally leaves to swim around and eat some algae, but the other damsel in my tank (was originally told it was a nemurus chromis) swims happily around like he owns the place but doesn’t seem to chase or attack the blenny, but does like to circle the blenny when he’s in the cave area, so I wanted to know can this damsel be causing the blenny to stay in one spot.

Like I said when the blenny does come out, the damsel doesn’t chase him or anything.
The blenny is also eating Hikari pellets

(@tekkengal i think the blenny and hermit have become good friends lol)

Blennies do more like to stay in their cave. Some differ but i wont be to alarmed about it. Thats a very nice torch

Hows the little guy doing? Eating?

He is looking a little slimmer than when I got him, but I found a new method to feed him. I use a 20ml syringe to push Hikari pellets down into his cave which actually gives him a chance to eat before the damsel gets it. These pellets are the only ones he really eats as I’ve tried feeding him Nori, flakes and frozen mysis, but I don’t mind going through the trouble of getting him to eat, he’s an awesome fish. Thanks for the concern Dian :cheers2:

*He also is leaving his cave a bit more often now which is great

Awesome news man. Thats great. Maybe try to make your own frozen mix. I did it when i had my previous tank. Took different frozen foods, flakes, pellets, chopped nori etc and made my own frozen blocks that had everything in. Worked quite well but you need a couple of fish otherwise its a waste

Sounds like a great idea, I will definitely try that. Thanks so much Dian!

Hello everyone,
Yesterday I got my long awaited pair of snowflake clowns from @ianP
Also got some Xenia frags and a Kenya tree Frag :slayer: the pair of clowns are so awesome and made themselves right at home as I put them in the tank. The female is so big and plump, really dig them.

Also couldn’t resist getting this hammer Frag when I was actually trying to buy glue.
