Evo, it probably wont last that long but get yourself battery powerd air pump or two , airstones & run them in the DT

At least it is on a weekend hey so u can be there. Get yourself a battry operated airpump. Will definitely be worth it

I would actually rather suggest either investing in a generator, or hiring a generator - for that day. You can at least have a 100% guarantee that your lifestock will survive, and you too can make use of the generator - for your fridge etc.

Battery operated airpumps is definitely a MUST in any case, for future - and you should also ensure that you have enough spare batteries, as the maximum time that the batteries last (in my experience), is about 8 hours.

with extra torch batteries...
Then it will last that long.

If you got a scrubber, put the screen in the sump.

Also a airstone in sump, above DSB, to keep some water movement there, or else use a milkjug.

Thanks guys. The tank is at my office so no use for a genatator.Where can i get a battery powered air pump and what do they go for??

Boyu air pumps normally goes for about R135....But i dont know where in mossel bay you can find this

Don't your offices have generators in any case?

Surely you should still be able to plug only all the plugs from the marine tank into an extension cord, going to external gennie?

The battery operated airpumps that I got, was sent to me by lIghty - which he bought somewhere in Durbs. They cost +-R80 each at the time. (A while back now).

Hi Evo, like everybody have mentioned, oxygen is the most important factor in your system when the power goes out. That’s why a battery operated air pump is so important. As long as you can maintain the oxygen level in the sump and DT most fish and corals should survive, but like Jacques has mentioned, it’s always better to go the gennie route!;)
