What do you consider to be pest or annoying corals that should be avoided?
In my tank, red plating monti has become a plague. I constantly have to trim it because it keeps shading and smothering other corals. Below are pics of it growing into birdsnest

Any coral that I don't like :m01: but yes I agree, I have a small-ish red Monti cap in my nano and it's becoming annoying by taking up too much kh and ca

While I could never get xenia to live in my previous tank, it is a coral that I actively avoid because of some of the stories going around about how they take over a tank:

Another would be kenya trees. I had one and was extremely happy with it until it started dropping frags resulting in lots of little trees taking over the tank...

people must share how they grow these two corals. i could never manage to grow them:blush:

I have a rock with monti caps and mushrooms, the mushrooms are taking over and killing the monti caps. Does anyone know if there's an effective way of killing mushrooms?:001_huh:

Mushrooms in a sps tank....i dont think there is a way to kill them in tank. They grow over, under and between everything. Spread from island to island. I have cut them down, sucked out, etc. They ALWAYS come back. Maybe someone got a solurion other than taking out rock?

If you only want to have sps, you can probably try something like an emperor angel or another bigger Pomacanthus, it should eat most corals besides sps, especially once it becomes big.

Brown button polyps.
Best is to have them on an isolated rock on the sandbed so that they cannot spread to anywhere.

How the times have changed, what a great problem to have! I've got rics coming out my ears (yuma) but the arctic phalys are a pest! I nuke everytime I get a chance.

I have heard that Kenya trees can grow very fast and become a pain. Does anyone know if that is true?
