Mix Pico Reef Office Tank

Its all glass. Thr rear panel of the display part is acrylic glued onto the glass and then the rear is covered in vinyl

How often do you do the water change on the pico? And what salt are you using?

Once a week 50% i divided it over 3 days to keep it stable. I use Aquamedic salt

Tek, no fish at all. Will throw my low nutrients off.

Good call :)
Another question, as it is your office tank, what will you do when you go on leave?

We closed the 24th Decemeber till 5th Jan and i had very little evaporation. I had a carton box to cover the tank and that helped with temp swing and evaporation. Tank used 3l of RO water when i came back to top it up again.

Few pics with the camera. The green slime algae i dont like at all but by the sound of things it might be a seasonal thing as i know of other also started having it in the tank even at high flow areas.

Thanks guys

Amazing little tank, I'm just breaking my bigger system down now and will be setting something similar up. Well done with the setup!

Thanks guys

My temp issue is about how temp but low. Tank reaches 26.6 highest during the day but at night drops to 23.5 or 24.5. I'm using a 150watt heater and its nit coping with 20l but used the same heater on my 200l drop reef and never had temps dropping below 24.5.

Did you come right with the heating issue, I had a little pico myself a few years back and found the by changing the chamber for the heater usually helps with the temps. If yours is the same as mine basically what you are looking for is a compartment, preferably the last/final one where the water comes in from the bottom and is pumped out the top, or vice versa, the catch however is to have the return pump on the opposite side of the water flow, so basically the water flows past and around the heater to the return pump. if that makes and sense at all.

Anyhow this is a great looking little pico, hope it works out well for you in the future. Well done.

Howzit. Thanks for the tip, i however did try the other chambers and moving left to right, still no luck. Ill cover the tank at night with a carton box, bergie style, so far temp swing are much less but winter is coming. Im busy pondering adding a bigger external sump. Still figuring it out how to make it work that wont take up a lot of space.

Small update. Upgraded my lights to cree, the cheap Chinese leds started to dim a little. Got rid of some corals that i had no space for to clear up my sand a little, didnt like the clutter.

I moved over to Red Sea Coral pro salt and using Aquaforest additives and the tank has taken off. Corals starting to grow quickly. Got in 10days 1cm growth on my plating monti and around 1cm on my birdsnest. Keeping things very stable and will be plumbing another tank to the system so i can up my water volume for even more stability

Also got what i call a "pygmy bubble tip" (i know its Majano) as i like there look i wont mind if it takes over a little bit. Nutrients very low so i am feeding it a little.
