The major challenge now is to get nitrates to under 20, then I can also start trying some nicer sps besides the current montis in the tank.
My problem is nitrates come down and phosphates stay up, trying to bring them down in balance is hard.

Idol - Adriaan is making a very nice Algae Scrubber. I think his 1st one is being tested so check with him for updates on how it works.

That is a good point, neglected phosphate testing as I always assumed the carbon dosing will reduce it in balance with nitrate, need to check phosphate too.

Added some goldies, mix of dispar and carberryi, so far all 11 still alive, was scared they might be eaten. Small regal angel and margined copperbands still seems to be doing well too.

i also made this mistake....just to find out the hard way carbon dosing doesnt do much to phosphate.

like larger regal angels for example.
And larger tangs as well. The younger the better.

Also learned hard lessons on a Phillipines shipment that cyanide use is still going on
Yip, I will never buy any fish at LFS if its a Philippines shipment. Learned my lesson. Last one was a fowleri tang years ago. Was doing fine in QT. Checked it out totally for anything previous evening. Next morning he was dead.

Surprisingly some survived, one of the bicolor angels, the tile fish, small foxface and one of yellow long noses came from that shipment, but lost 2 multibar angels, 2 colini angels, 2 blue spotted angels and a whole lot more.

I know a lot of education went into training those Philippines collectors and convincing them not to use cyanide.

Worst of all the supplier is the one that is the most vocal on Facebook about net training divers in the Phillipines, seems like a smokescreen, no other explanation for all the random deaths on hard to catch fish we experienced across 4 or 5 guys, all with different quarantine methods.

Your tank looks too awesome!

You have come pretty far since the last time i saw one of your tanks all those years ago.

Christiaan? :y13: It was probably still the previous decade when we saw each other last  Do you have a tank again?

Awesome, would like to see what it looks like. You guys still doing family collection trips every year around March?
