Domino Damsels spawned today!

Sean, I know I still have to finish the banggai thread, but is difficult to write a good article if your mind is elsewhere.
I want to start off with around 300 to 400 larvae and I expect not that much from raising the dominos as there are almost no records about their larvae.
They might be even smaller than the yellow belly larvae or their parents are going to eat them before I can catch a few. My snagger does not work this time as they spawned on an akward place. I let them hatch in the tank and scoop them out in the morning. If there are any left.
Dominos are not agood seller, but if I can raise some good numbers, they will be available for cheap and if I cull them after they are through the Meta or the hobbyist culls them after they grew to big, does not make any difference.
The big advantage is to be able to add nice, small and cheap fish into a nano tank, which was not taken out of the wild.
I also reckon that they will be less aggressive than wild caught dominos.
I personally think that even though there isn't a huge market for wild Dominos, there would probably be a great market for captive bred fish. It's always better to have a supply that does not make a dent in the worlds ocean populations. Besides, the Domino is one of the first 2 fish, along with the clown fish, that caught my eye before I started keeping fish. For all their faults, the Domino is still a strikingly beautiful fish. Even if the deep black fades with age.
And yes... That article on the Banggais would be nice, but when you are ready... No need to rush. My main tank is still coming along nicely, so my attention is only on that tank at the moment.

I agree, just imagine to have a few dominos in a small tank at a size of 1.5 cm.

No ways, I am not counting them. I will scoop the amount I need out of the tank, that´s it.
With the yellow bellies it will be different. I am going to pull the pot and in the morning I take a picture from the hatchlings and count them on the computer.
You got a program that counts fry from a PIC? or do you have to tick off each each fry and count the ticks?

I thought, I got enough eggs from the dominos, so I should scrap a few down for further investigation.
The parents did not even attack me, surprisingly.
Now, I put the eggs under the microscope. Estimated 50 hours development.
What I saw reminds me very much of the larvae from the lionfish.
These eggs are very small, maybe smaller than the yellow belly eggs.
While I was peeping through my microscope, I could see the heart beating.
And then, the larvae or whatever you want to call this unfinished product, turned around in the egg. It looked like a snake is moving in the egg. Weird and very fascinating.
Compare both pictures and you will see the larvae has turned.

It was incredible and I saw it again. My eyes are sore now, tried to capture the
"domino roll" on video.
