New coral

Hey ppl.

The local LFS had a speacial on corals.
Got my self a nice brain coral and a moon coral.

But sorry dont have pics yet.
Verry biz at work.

Ill post pics a bit later.

No dont realy have mutch algae on the rocks, must be the camera.
The silicone is a bit green but not that bad like in the pic. It must be the camera.

Im still new in the hobby so dont know all the fancy names for all the stuff that happens with the tank and so on.

Diatoms are that brown settlement you get on the rocks and sand. Just wanted to see how they are with the corals ie not settling on top and blocking light

SNAILS or WHAT the hell man

hey ppl.

I think i had snails. HAHA.

I saw more flatworms on my xinas then took them for a dip.
When i took out the LR they were on i saw these bugers.

Soz the pics arent great. I have to get another camera.

This little bugger has little white eyes.

This is a verry bad pic.
But this oukie looks exactly like my pulsing xinias.

So what do you think they are ppl.
Does anybody have beter pics i can id them with.
Cos my pics suck man.

Powerheads is always a risk with nennies, thats why I have not tried my hand with them....

Falcon build his whole tank around making it nennie safe, so I think that is about the only failsafe way of doing it.

mm Ok, that was for a link on how to make powerheads safe.

Google a bit on the powerheads - but you loos a lot of circulation if you cover them up with sponges etc...

but wait and see what others have to say..

I dont have pics of how to make a powerhead safe since ive never done it,like steyn says i made my tank itself nennie safe.

What you can do is simply make a box which is double the size of the power head and put the power head in there with only the OUTLET not covered,the box can be made with mesh type material or even abs plastic with lots of slits on ALL sides.

This will create a situation where there is no concentrated water inlets.

I know ANEMONE (brenda) on this site says she has made them also so maybe ask her to post some pics for us?

New coral pics

Hey PPL.

Here is some new coral i got on vriday.
Please ID ppl.

Cos i dont know the proper names for some.

Lets start.

I call him boesman. HEHE

These pics of the nennie arent that clear.
Ill take more later.
Its it seems like a green buuble tip to me.
Or a long tentical green tip.
What do you think ppl?

Thre in that pic it looks like a bubble tip.

This is some kind of xinia.

And here is more frog spawn i got.
He opens up verry nicely, just like boesman. hehe

JAJA i know. My pics quality sucks once again.
But i cant spent cash on a camea now.
Had no power last night for about 6hours.
So i need to get a backup system first.

Ill tell you all about that in the next post.
Luckely i got a temp backup system running in like 30min
