Crispins winter wedding pics....NO FISH pics at all:)

So - the magic question. A few days later...... ;) (tong in cheek) - does it feel different being married now? ;)
sorry for such a late reply JB, but weirdly enough vbeing married does indeed feel different. I simply LOVE being married, a few trials and challenges most of them created by a horendous bank ballance but some how taking on those challenges with a committed partner makes it so much easier. Getting maried was one of the best things ive ever done......that and catching a caimen crock on a fly rod....both right up there on things to do:)

Just catching up on old threads and all I can say is wow.....
Wow great work on that barn,it came out superb crispin. The sheds great. we haent finished the roof ( need to insulate it and add some fans to blow the warm air down again in winter, plus I want to look at adding a few sky boxes ( we get sunlight from 3am till 10:30pm over summer). But we will get to it when funds permitt (ie on the loto scheme)

Thanks for sharing hope you guys are happy together.

Whats this story about using coke on a spit braai?does it make it more tender or just for the flavour?

coke is an amazing additive to meat. Two best ways I know of tenderizing meat it to either wrapp a stake in pawpaw skins or use coke in its cooking. Ginerale is also brilliant when roasting big birds like geese (spurwing or normal domestic fowl etc) but the main reason I used coke on those lambs was to caramalise the sugars on the skin slowly as you braai it. That gives the skin a beautiful colour and killer flavour once its done, although one needs to take care while doing it and keep applying to the skin as you turn the carcass. The ribs always cook faster than the rest of the animal, so around half way through we baste that section heavily and wrapp it in tinn foil while you carry on with the thicker hind quater, shoulders and neck. At the end we place coals under the ribs and take the foil off, so that a quick blast of heat caramalises the coke based baisting which normally gest sucked into the ribs slightly as it cools under the foil.

if you arent quite following what I mean here, send me a pm andi CAN EXPLAIN IT BETTER:)

I know this is an old thread, but I'm just now seeing it! Wow! What a beautiful place to have a wedding! Congratulations @crispin!
thanks so much brenda:) so good to see you back on masa again (normally means that those challenges life seems to hurl at you are getting a little better?)

We do have a truley beautiful farm and getting married at home was a real delight. Its still refered to as *THE wedding' amoungst our friends and was good enough to inspire two other friends whom have been together through 3 children and a rediculous amount of years to tie the knot :) means it was a darn good wedding that and i just wish i could get married all over again....same wife, in case you were wondering:)
