hows the beer???
hows the beer???Beer is a lot cheaper than in Oslo
And available from all petrol stations. At 7.2%. Somehow drink and drive and buying beer at the filling station do not make sense....

And the Beer story, well Norway got some strict alcohol rules. You can buy beer at convenience stores, but only light beer. Max about 2.5%. And all alcohol is pretty expensive. In a bar I paid R215 for two beers.
Denmark, just across the water straight, is relaxed and a lot cheaper. The Norwegians jump on a Danish ferry, and by the time the land this side they are motherless drunk.
If in Norway you want normal beer, at about 5%, you have to go to that special place. Some shop, hidden, selling mostly wine. But you are treated like a beer expert if you ask for that special beer. And expect to pay 30 to 50 for one can of that special beer. And they register your ID. Yes, everybody must show their ID and it is typed in on the system. The government needs to know who is alcoholic! Well maybe not, still wonder what they do with my SA driving license number

Still cheaper than therapy !
oddly enough not in Norway...therapy is free (well often greatly subsidised and if you get laid off long term from work the gov pays your salary) but the beer, they make you pay!. Id love to import wine from Sa and I have a number of friends who own wineries and know some great SA wines, but id be hammered 35% import tax. So i will start brewing my own mead soon
maybe hennie will help me with a still, i have a feeling he enjoys the distilled stuff
that doest look like a great aquarium Riaan, but they do have some great specimins, some of the sizes of corals and fish show they have matured in those tanks. Whats it like in real life, better than the pics show?

I just happen to notice the cyano bacteria on the sand.... and that looks like aragonite? Or am I wrong? Not that cyano is really all bad.... Just wondering....

well all the tanks are about 1m deep, or might even be more.
I thought about the clams, being that deep. But they look fine. And big.
Yes, all the fish I took Pic's from are big, nice and in good condition. does look good, and the depth really help in creating a nicer feel and look into the tank.

The aquarium is in all, ok. Small and interesting. But between the Europe aquariums I've been to, the Lisbon Portugal one is far better and the Genova Italy the best.
But here in Copenhagen they are busy building a new big aquarium, to be opened in 2013. That one I want to see. With enormous tanks with open tops with sea birds flying around. Well judging from the scale models it will be one of the best in Europe.
