Caulerpa

;-) Seems that we CAN indeed start SOME form of international marine aquatic life form "swopping" ;-) - even if only macro algae... ha..ha..hahahaha
Been trying to get "international frag swopping" going - but this seems to be a bit far off....

Dean - yeah, perhaps you can offer you address to the lady ;-)

Grape caulerpa aka racemosa and friends are my largest enemy. Because of the growth speed, pattern and structure (breaks to easily and spreads) it is a nightmare to get out of my tank. It overgrows sps and definitely chemically attacks them.

Another interesting article on how we must not allow Caulerpa get into our Local marine systems.

"Those who are located near coastal areas should kill Caulerpa algae by freezing for at least 24 hours before disposal. Under no circumstances should living Caulerpa algae be disposed of in any natural waterway, storm drain, toilet or sink."

Yup that weed is so invasive a LFS will loose their license if found in thier shop, We use to full as many as we can and drop it at Scripps Institute of Oceanoghrapy for disposal but the divers here can't keep up with the terrible weeds.

Hi Alan,

Well, Thanks for the information regarding Caulerpa and its useful link.I like your article very much as you have create awareness among others. I want more information regarding these stuff.I am Waiting for your positive reply. I want to add some thing to these stuff which increase the readability of the article.Caulerpa is a genus of seaweeds in the family Caulerpaceae (among the green algae). They are unusual because they consist of only one cell with many nuclei, making them among the biggest single cells in the world. A species in the Mediterranean can have a stolon more than 3 metres (9 ft) long, with up to 200 fronds.

Thanks
