Brett's minimalist shallow reef

awesome!!!
i love the overflow, the external bean animal/herbie overflows are the bomb!!!

great DIY

HAHA thanks! But those pics with the external overflow are not of my tank :tt2:

Finished most of the stand this weekend and also started the design and layout of my sump. Most of my spare time went to messing around with ice makers to convert them into chillers. Which went very well BTW  started a thread for that though.

So here is what design work iv done so far. waiting for stuff to arrive to get exact dimensions before I carry on. The red thing is the skimmers footprint. Iv added a shelf to put electronics, controller, dosing pumps and my DIY chiller :whistling: the curve 5 skimmer only needs 20mm of clearance to take the cup off. I should have about 100mm with the shelf in.

And here is how far I got with the stand. Also played around with some stainless bar for a light stand. Not sure if like it yet

Hmmm, i like it. Definitely something new! Cant wait to see the tank!

Some equipment arrived at my door today  love getting stuff in the post =):tt2:
Anyway, Iv tested everything already and Iv even got my reef angel connected to the internet. The app for apple pretty cool. The reef angel is really great piece of kit loved every minute of it so far!

The bubble magus curve 5 is a very cool design, very well built and seems to be decent quality. The manual is full of chinglish but who needs a manual for a skimmer:tt2: Another thing I am really happy about is a how ridiculously quite it is since this tank is in my room, lets hope it stays like that.

The waveline DC3000 is also ridiculously quite. :yeahdude:

Lucky bugger!;)
How much did you pay for the bubble magus & where did you buy the things from?
Enjoy them! The dc3000 is a stunning pump. Have one myself & i couldnt be happier!!!

saw all your stuff being packed at jungle!

what is the curve 5 rated for?

thanks

yeah

i saw it on their cube combo that they have by the counter and it looks small…but big things come in small packages.

let me know what you think of it…

looks great so far

Nice, thanks!
Oh... If you ever want to sell the reef angel, dont forget to contact me, lol...

also your stand might be too small to house everything...i know mine is....what size is you sump etc.?

also remember you are going to have to be able to take all the equipment out of your sump if needed to clean without removing your sump as that would be problematic.

Ya space is always an issue with tanks like ours hence the reason my stand is 1m high to make space for the shelf and still allow me to get stuff in and out my sump. Checked everything on CAD and now that my skimmer arrived I could double check before I get the glass for my sump.

Your setup looks great BTW. What material did you use for side covers of your stand? Doesn't look like wood.

Space is an issue. In the pictures I will be posting you'll see i have a big shelve behind my tank. My stand is also 1 meter high or so. Still not enough space for me! But I don't have the shelve in the stand

The covers are pieces of perspex with magnets to keep them to the stand. Does look good but my perspex was too thin and they warped so it doesn't look good now so I'm building a wooden cover.

thanks for comment on my tank. will be posting some pictures soon of the new scape etc.
