I've used mosquito netting for my screen. Bought from my local hardware
 
Thanks for the kind words guys!

In terms of substrate I'm keen on growing out my encrusting species instead of sand. I just hate the fact that without intensive cleaning, substrate is just such a mission, and that's if you can keep your pumps low enough not to move it around the tank. I've currently got one OW10, one OW 25, an SL35, and a sun sun AC pump making flow. The sand doesn't stand much of a chance :lol:

Well it's going to look amazing once it's covered will the enctusting coral !! Yeah I know the struggle with the substrate and flow luckily I found my sweet spot my aragonite is so fine too ... since I initially got my tank in 2017 and I bought I second hand my aragonite has not been touched

@JG Beeslaar, As the mangroves grow they should continue growing around the deadwood. I'm recreating a lagoonal environment and the technique is used in bonsai called Jin. Unfortunately because I can't wait for these very slow growers to produce enough growth to purposefully kill off parts of the plant I have just added some driftwood. They are also susceptible to harsh trimming especially early on. Note that the wood is on top of the water and nothing extends into the tank. Instead, it sits on top of my rockwork made to look roughly like the roots or stump of a mangrove.

I've always been intrigued by lagoon environments and have enjoyed diving and exploring these low environment systems. Hence me trying to recreate a small mangrove dominated lagoon in the smaller tank. I have two red and a black mangrove growing in there. I've started training the stems, but they have not split yet. As soon as they bifurcate I'll be able to start trimming them.
