Drilling the 50mm outflow,
I use some board as a stencil....seen here with a 50mm and 32mm bits. Clamps hold everything in place so that the bit does not move around.
Cordless drill set-on slow speed, do just enough to get about 2-3mm depth, then u can remove the board. I drill for about s0-30 second then dunk the the bit in some water to wash out, also do same at the hole end. Be careful not to go to fast.
Bulkhead fittings screwed in place, I use a rubber washer on the outside end, with silicone on the inside end.
I've been a bit naughty and slapped in some "testers" about two weeks ago....the params in terms of nitrates and PO4 are all undetectable (Elos test kit). That unsightly rock that was covered in GHA is as clean as a whistle. Now dosing half dose of vodka.
The polyp extension is quite something...also colors noticeably better here than in my lit frag tank...I will assume the very low nutrients and strong winter sun giving the better colors. Here are the three tester 2cm frags.
this normally brown digi is slowly taking on a pink/purple hue
again was more brown...but this strawberry prostrata taking on a more pink (hopefully will get to more red)
How things currently stand...RO water has been dripping slowly away for the past week, only now started to overflow from the live rock sump into the DSB sump.
Talking about going all out.
Think this is what they meant.
If i ever scrape the nerve to build a system I'm going natural light all the way !!
Fantastic looking setup so far.
