Hey Dallas, yes thanks. I rushed home as I told them just to leave the large glass sheet leaning on the fence (they could not get it thru the gate) outside....only to find they managed to lift it over the fence. Wonder why they use women to do their deliveries??, that pane is heavy. All in all it got here in one piece....but I was a bit of a doos and nicked two of the sheets in my haste to glue things together, nothing serious.

yeah, could have done more work but silicone needs to dry....still got to watch the soccer game last night as well. for the Dutch!

Really fantastic build pictorial, many thanks Adee! Great job so far!
Thanks Jacques!

Looking great Adee! Coming on nicely! Thats some serious GHA you have there.

One question. Ive seen a few threads where people speak about sunlight causing algae blooms and then others that say it doesnt. Whats your views on this... I know we can sometimes compare it to the ocean and say then why doesnt it happen there but sometimes we cant compare to the ocean.

Thanks Deon!

My view is nutrient levels in your tank added to LR that has accumulated detritus on top...WILL cause algae blooms whether in the sun or not. Sunlight though does give the optimum lighting spectrum for any algae to take hold.

The evidence is in my tank, 95% of the rock work is as clean as the day I put it in there (4 weeks ago). Having a sunlit tank though is gonna give me not much room to play with when it comes to algae control, will have to be on top of things from the start. The big plus is that the ATS will be the magnet that will hopefully keep algae blooms at bay.

My old Ts3 is churning some serious gunk, evidence the algae is receding.

awesum thread adee, the differences from beginning to now are fantastic and the overall increase in vallue of that living area is an amazing plus. Well done on a fine job so far, but do slow down with that gluing and stop chipping that expensive glass will ya! :)

its odd what one can figure out about people from the other side of the world, but while you were siliconing sumps I was training my younge border collie on some very aggressive rams I have. Both had to take a break for the soccer, but truthfully i am not sure if id ratehr have been training or putting together a sump like you have. i think the training though, but that sump does look fantastic and thank you VERY much for the pics and work descriptions, very nice addition to masa:)

Howdy Crispin.... thanks for the encouraging comments.

Hopefully I've upped my game for round 2 tonight, so no more glass chipping!

Did you come right with the glue? Try using it on all your pvc fittings, much more stronger and dries faster. The pvs most people use in low pressure, this one high pressure applications.

looking awesome so far Adee:thumbup: this is going to be a awesome setup man!....cant wait to see it in its prime;)
thanks Clinton!

Great thread Adee!! It's really coming along nicely. I look forward to seeing it in person.
Thanks Sean...my invite still extends.

The funny thing, thats the same glue I've being using for all my piping. I redid the other MD70 pump and gave it a good attempt at undoing before I went to bed....solid. Will swap the pumps when I get home and do the same to the other one.

thanks adee, same ive used was interested to see what it was :)

out of interest hos that GHA going on the LR, still expanding or starting to clump and die off?

and would you ever look at adding a fox face or something like that to feed off it in there (be a real battle to remove the fish if you did)

the algae is dying off, the skimmer is doing a good job taking the die off out. I've thrown in a lawnmower blenny, I've actually seen him feeding on the stuff!

I had planned on throwing in a convict tang....but now that I want a couple, none of the LFS have any. Also, Sentari opted in keeping his sytem (good for him), so lost out on the one he had.

I'm not to phased as the growth as it is receding, anyways all 120 kilos of the rock you see (plus much more) is all going into the sump...no more sunlight then. All this rock has been in other guys (2 peeps) set-ups for about 3 years.

Adee would have given you him to try help with the algae but honestly this oke only eats the short algae on the rocks not the long stuff. He's very fussy! Think i've spoilt him too much with the nori.

Gonna actually withhold nori from them for some time and see if they start eating the algae. If this happens again i dont mind borrowing him to you.

Hey Deon, no worries mate....I'm really not stressing at the algae which is on a few rocks... between the blenny and the clean up crew, everything is coming along nicely.

I'm still gonna keep my eye on getting me a couple....which I will keep on the frag tank side.

awesome stuff adee, this will be a stunner. vodka would do a good job of removing all that GHA quickly. esp since u are running a skimmer in there.
