Update!!!

I have finally got my tank!!!! And i must say i really dig the black silicone look!! I am really wanting to go bare bottom aswell as sand is a pain in the :asshole:
Brett helped me out with the use of his vehicle and we ran around this afternoon from shop to shop getting all the thingies i needed:p You could spot us a mile away:p

The stand was made with 38mm square tubing (taking no chances!!) and powder coated:yeahdude: The finish is really something and adds quite a bit to the setup. Cost a bit more that i planned on but i think its worth it :)

Here's a pic of my thin coast to coast overflow

Just waiting on the removal of the 2m for this guy to get wet and a trial run :) going to put a black backround on to go with the silicon as well as very dark cupboards. Not exactly a fan of that black wavy business for the bottom supports but a thin strip of black perspex will fix that easily :)

Ai yai yaaaai that's a great looking tank, that black silicone just gives it so much class hey ! Whatcha got planned for substrate and forgive the noobi question, but where is the outlet from that thin overflow ?

NO SUBSTRATE!!!!:p
I really dont want to fight with sand anymore, sheesh i hate sand. There is a hole at the back of the tank, and there is a ''complicated to type'' way of connecting the pipe on there so that its easily removable and i dont need to go into the overflow to do anything:yeahdude:

Very nice tank scubaninja

Will you be covering the white polystyrene with something. Maybe painting the bottom of the tank black, on the outside of course. This will also hide the black wavy silicone lines you want to cover with black pvc.

thanks bud, ooo thats a plan, that will stop the black from picking up so much  but i'm not so sure about a black bottom, i think the fish might get confused or it may end up being too much black. the idea is coralline will eventually grow over it all, but maybe just place a black piece of sheeting underneath to just see how it is and i'll go from there.. But it does seem like a plan

I would love to see that overflow in action, great idea for my new tank...
cool fleur, will take video once i get it up and running. one thing is you need to be really careful about things going over the over flow. i have made a plan for a device to scoop any poor soul unlucky enough to go into there out but you need to be carefull. so thin enough that no creature can go down there is the plan

Hi Scuba, nice! its great to see it all coming together. What height have you done your stand at?
Also where did you get the powder coating done and was it expensive?
Must chat sometime as I am rather going to try build a light unit (with a friend who has far more skill than I do) and was hoping you can give me some pointers.
otherwise, I look forward to some further pics.
Cheers
