1 million posts and now 10 000 members. That's fantastic.

how many of the 10 000 is active still on the forum?:whistling:
Pity, not thousands.

According to the home page, 50 members at 22:30. How accurate that is, I'm not sure as I do not know how long after you just close your tabsdoes the system realize that you are gone. But 50 at this hour... not bad.

New member registrations are up. Not going public with figures unless given go ahead other mods, but we are up over 25 registrations for August over the previous month and its been the best month for over a year.

Pity a lot of guys just camp out in the for sale section, and they never post anything in the rest of the forum, nor post anything about their own tank. And some guys do not have anything to hide, beauty of tanks that we randomly stumble upon on Facebook. Guys that are members for years here. Come on guys, feel free to share.

Do you Guys Engage in Conversation with these guys...... I Remember when I Started on the Forum, I Was Always Just Browsing around, not Comentening or Posting. Got a PM every now and then especially from Mike, urging me to Post something.

We are looking at ways, even to get well known guys that's long gone but still have tanks chatting again. Some guys did pack up and left this hobby, nothing to gain for themselves browsing the forum although the fast knowledge they all collectively have is now out of the reach of all the new guys.

Any ideas?

Congrats!!! Well done on achieving such a milestone. With the wealth of knowledge and advice on this forum, it can only grow.

Firstly well done on the numbers, in this day of whatsapp groups, continued growth and activity is a big plus for this forum.

I have some ideas why we have the large number of absentee members and lurkers on the site. If I use myself as an example, when I joined I really knew very little and spend hour after hour reading the posts by members who had a lot more experience, to build up my knowledge. These days I still read a lot, but stay clear of posts where I clearly will have little to gain or contribute. One major issue imvho that causes frustration, are (new) members who post before doing their research. The number of these posters asking for help, where there are multiple posts containing the answers to their dilemmas, becomes repetitive, and quite rightly would upset the members who had answered the questions asked previously. These are my thoughts and not a criticism. In our modern day, instant gratification lifestyle, I do not have an answer on how to get past this.

Very true and being a member of a few totally different groups I can tell you it's exactly the same on all the other groups
But we must remember that for a newbe his situation is totally unique in his opinion. ..most of the times they do a lot of reading up but something small and actually totally irrelevant is not the same as in his research and due to his inexperience he is uncertain and then still asks
Unfortunately this is where a friendly answer will keep him on the forum or vice versa .
I must also say that this is one of the very few sites where there aren't. .as I like to call them. .keyboard cowboy's "
There's no faster way to kill a site than to have a few members always willing to pick a fight or to just be plain rude
My hats of to the moderators here
You guys do a brilliant job :m106:
