Thank you. Yes I have a refractometer.
It's always so easy to plan a new tank, especially when cash flow in not a problem. And in my case, it is!
But some good ideas come out of a situation. I don't want to spend a fortune on a new tank. So using what I have made me think on how to use it. No...
Four holes in the tank. So I will use two for the return and the other two for the overflow, which is going to be more a water slide than a overflow.
Now the two T-piece are not connected to the overflow. I used the dremel to be able to push them over the pipes.
They will now support the...
Where does one find dry reef rock in Cape Town? Looking for around 15kg.
Need bigger pieces as I need to drill 40mm holes through it. Want to build to pillars.
Yep, that's the plan. Once the legislation is up to date (they are busy changing it) and once I got the permit for aquaculture, at least I will have broodstock that I can rely on from day one.
Clowns spawn twice a month. In the beginning some pairs don't know really what to do. Especially the...
The tank was actually planned to get fish to mate and to spawn. Not actually for breeding purposes. Therefore I leave the Banggai's.
Pushing the limits? I like doing that. I'm planning to introduce a pair of mandarins after the tank is running for two weeks. Stuff the story about matured tank...
The idea using the overflow pipe as the reef structure came, because of the holes that are already in the glass. The tank was actually devided into two tanks. I took out the divider and have now 4 holes in the glass. Which means that I'm using two holes for the return and one for the overflow...
Feeding brine with rotifers? Ain't gonna work. Brine shrimp are filter feeders. And you should feed the first few days freshly hatched brines as they have still their yolk sack. The digestive system of the banggai babies has to kich in before they can digest the harder enriched brines.
Yep, sometimes one very curious, little bugger escapes before the time. I reckon he will release the rest tonight. Set up a moonlight or some small light in one corner. The babies will swim to the light. Then you can move the dad or separate them with something. Sometimes the dad is so flippin...
Just be careful with all this two pronge equipment. I had a SUN SUN which gave me I think it was below 20V stray voltage. Then I turned the plug around and had 230V in the tank.
Thank you. It's all old stuff but will work just as good.
Found those ballasts!
Filtration? Not so sure about it yet. Will see first what all can fit inside the cabinet.
Sump will be made from an old 600x400x400mm tank. I want to put a lid on. No splashing allowed inside the cabinet.;)
