hi guys what is good flow for my tank dim 1200l.45b.45w eg will 2x 6000plh wave maker pumps be ok or to much ? would like to have a mix reef softies ,lps and( sps just a few) what you guys think :)

what about this wave maker any good ?

the shipping on that will cost allot!!!

You have to decide what you want to spend.
Firstly out of experience cheap = replacing pumps in 12 months!
Rather spend a bit more and get some Tunze pumps!

SPS will love you!
 
What is your water level at? If I take your DT volume at 120x45x40= 216L, then you would need 50-60x your system volume. Therefore 216 x 50 = 10800, so you could have 1 5000L and 1 6000L sun sun... You also have to consider your rock work and the type of flow
 
Don't have any yet still setting things up just getting info you I know what I need
 
Hi guys I change the dimension of my tank its 106 x45x45 put in a coast to coast over flow and still need help with the flow will post a pic soon so you can see the rock work
 
ok this is what it looks like would like to buy a wave maker dont know what lph i need
 
I would say 8000 lph to 15000 lph... depending on corals. LPS don't like to much flow, SPS love a lot of flow... so it all depends on corals and placement.

Sunsun won't last on a timer! If you want a cheaper wavemaker look at the Resun Waver 15000 or Boyu wavemakers.
 
Ok thanx would like. Some softies ,lps and just a few sps I got one 5000lph sun sun in there just seems so strong but I'm new to all of this so need all the help I can get

Hi, may we suggest the following, 2 x 6055 TUNZE Nano pumps, which would be fantastic in you tank because you can control these pumps from 1000 l/hr to 5 500l/hr max., you can point them in any direction that you want, the pumps attach to the glass with magnets. The flow possibilities are numerous when you add a 7092 or 7096 multi controller. The disadvantage of the 7092 is than you can only control 2 pumps, the advantage of the 7096 controller is that you can run 8 pumps, if you need to expand. MASA members quality for an automatic 10% discount on all TUNZE products. A further advantage on all TUNZE electronic pumps is that you can connect them via a safety connector (6105.500) to a small 12 V battery, which would carry on running them in the event of a power failure. Ummmm just double check that ad. They're selling 2 x 3000l's for $40 and not 2 x 6000l's.....
 
So what you think I know its a gable were tunze is good quality ???
 
That add looks like 2 std sunsun's (non controlable) with a on off timer.

Firstly you wont be getting any wave action with that.
Secondly sunsun's are not made to be turned on and off. They also have a habit of not turning back on with out a little prod.
Thirdly Sunsun's are not as reliable as Tunze

Sunsun tend to reverse flow when they are turned off and on. I had a mission getting it to flow right way around, after it was turned off.

Vortech MP10 is another option.

what are you wanting to achieve? random flow patterns or the osilation (back and forth swaying) of corals?

for quality i do like the suggestion of the Tunze nano streams having used them in the past,

but it would largley depend on how laminar you would want the flow to be..

Aqua medic ocean prop 15000 are perfect for softy/ LPS tanks as they do not have a forecful flow. but big and unsightley especially in smaller tanks.

i am not fimiliar with Hydor other than what i have read but these are also top end pumps and affordale (when quality is compared)

Vortech is also nice and has options just like the others where it can be set to a variety of patterns and flow speeds..

the moral of the story is you pay for the extra bells and whistles.. especially if you are looking for a pump with a long life span.

Thanx leslie hempel I'm looking for random flow in my tank and not a big pump and do I realy need.a 50 to 60 turn over rate ???
