Hi All

It seems I always have to post these crazy questions...b but, I've just finished a 10% water change and suddenly Nemo (my clown fish) started acting crazy.

I've had Nemo and his missus for more than a year now and never observed his crazy behaviour. He is suddenly "burrowing" his belly in the sand and every now and then he looks like he's having a fit. Don't laugh! His body goes through these jerky movements for a second or two and then he's normal for a few minutes, before doing these crazy things.

Could it have something to do with the water change? Water parameters are all fine.

Please help!

Is the water temp and salinity the same as the tank water? Did you add it close to him? Although 10% is not that much...

Tobes

I added the new water to the sump and slowly but surely added the new water. The salinity was the same. Water temp gradually dropped to 24 degrees from 25.

It is 2 hours now since I've completed the water change and he seems to have calmed down now. all the other fish and invertibrates all act normal...
Thanks for the speedy reply.

The shaking you are seeing is usually a dominence issue between the clownfish. I often see this during water changes, when the fish get a bit stressed. In my case, the female (boss) usually kicks the male out of the anemone. Afterwards there are some issues between the two, once things settle down and the female feels safe again she lets the male return to their home.

Thanks you guys. Nemo has returned to normal and all is well!

Anemone, your feedback seems to be spot on!

My clowns and some other fish also does this when I perform huge water changes like 30%. I always just thought it's the new fresh water making them CRAZY!!!!
i am assuming you dont use ' new fresh water' for water changes, and that what you mean is that its the newly mixed salt water that you think has this effect?
