Vodka

I do not know enough about the subject to offer advice. But Zeo essentially is a system based on this method. Their words of caution should be heeded
 
so vinegar will fall under which categoray in the zeo range?maybe i can check up in my zeo guide regarding the directions
 
I don't think that it is that easy... The Zeo range is thought thru and has had enough of a trial period to iron out the gremlins...a willy nilly attitude with vinegar would be like going online with no firewall.
 
I think the guys at Zeo would be somewhat peed off to hear that Zeo is an offshoot of the Vodka method.

Zeo is a highly researched system that takes the guesswork out of nutrient reduction and coral feeding and additives. If you follow it carefully and use the great support that they offer it works very well. Don't slip up though, its a German system and one needs to to follow it carefully if using the full system.

Also if you have a really big tank the cost could probably prop up the Mugabe Regime.

Thats why after researching Zeo and using it for a while, I had a good look into the Vodka method.

It uses a carbon source (Vodka/Vinigar) to feed bacteria the carbon which according to these methods is limited in our highly skimmed tanks.

Bacteria multiply and use Nitrates and Phospates in the process, the bacteria forms a food source for coral, and is removed by your skimmer.

Skimmers skim soooo much more smelly gunk using this method. It works very well as a nutient remover.

You must know what you are doing and the possible pitfalls before you try this though.
 
thanks for the input bob.ive seen,the prices,and it does cost alot to run it on a big system,and alot of research has to to be put in before starting the zeovit system,ive read on the zeovit website about how people have wiped out their entire tanks when not doing enough research.so im planning my way carefully
 
Hi I have decided to go for Vodka.(I prefer Cane Spirits myself:) )
So I am going to dose half a milli liter a day. Must say my aquarium drinks less than I do!
I will let you know progress or otherwise.

Right I have adopted a "softly softly catchee monkey" approach. I have waded through page after page of info. Some predict doom and gloom others are happy with it.
I will probably step up the dosage if there is no effect on my corals after a few days. Will go to 1 ml, lets see!

Right what I am trying to nail is the out break of grape caulerpa which has crept into my tank. So I have a new skimmer TS-2 and trying Vodka.
If that doesnt work I am going to drink the Vodka and feel no pain!

Do you use Kalkwasser/Calcium Hydroxide? If so how much?
