Hello @Journeyman, nice upgrades you are doing to the RSM 250.
I also have a RSM 250 and would just like to find out which return pumps you bought to replace the original return pumps and which hood cooling fans you bought to replace the original ones?

The return pumps I added are the DCS-3000(@ 4led speed) DCS-2000 (@3 led speed) both Jebao DC pumps got them on Takealot.The 2 fans on the back is thinner you will need to shop around for them.

An quick update - had a nasty bubble algae outbreak with the warm weather to the point of taking the rocks out and scrubbing them one by one today below after photo.

Cleaning time, as a lot of coral growth can be noticed - holy-wood stunner especially.
Here is the current operational mode for my RSM 250
For cooling these fans on the back left are used
Also the small desk fan is used in summer, cooling at the back since I did not receive the lid to close the area with the tank
Here my ATO and skimmer hard at work below my Gravity ATO
The two Lancia wifi lights in the hood. (590 and 895) controlled from my mobile phone
The Tunze skimmer, ATO level control float and cope-pod hotel
The auto feeder
Then the only dosing I do are

Been busy with work, but here is a status of the tank
Yes I caught it in time had a nitrate increase and currently slowly bringing it back down with carbon dosing ( Vinegar+ kalkwasser dosing) did lose a few corals but it is stable now. The algae is dying off as well as kept in check by the Urchin, snails and foxface.
Just a quick update:
The tank is nearly algae free now I have added the new citizens to the tank one sand-shifting star and a green/jade wrasse. All seems to be going well now.

Been a while but slowly recovering

Cant point to the cause as Nitrates spiked for no reason and Corals and fish started to die one by one - next step is get the water tested to see if I can find out what caused it. Looks stable and the survivors showing growth and stability only doing 50L water changes every 2 weeks, stopped all dosing completely.
How are things looking now?
Moving in the right direction, found the hidden nitrate factory on the RSM 250. Now waiting on my CPI test to see if there is any additional issues then we start again.
After a lot of investigation I found that the main cause was to "Clean the mechanical filter sponges in my RSM 250 at least 2 to 3 times a week to physically remove waste before it breaks down into nitrate" which I was overlooking by cleaning it only once very 2-3 months. Nitrates are moving back down from 50 to 35 as I can't rush this to also keep the tank stable. I do see my corals started to recover and grow again and the fish are more active. Will keep you posted.

Glad you managed to find the issue. Those Red Sea sponges hold a lot of waste, I used to struggle to clean mine properly. Are you doing a mixed reef?
