Underwater pics from mauritius

OK, just for Puppy here's a quick selection of ones that came out OK from Blue Bay in the South of Mauritius..

Picasa Web Albums - Daniel - Coral Garden

These are from two different days and some taken by myself and some by my brother with my camera. Depth is around 3 meters on average I'd guess, although varies of course.

I live in the west. The first batch are from near La Morne, also in the west. The biggest sizes and variety of coral are in the South. From what I hear and the best variety of colourful fish is off the East coast, although I've yet to go to the East.

Daniel...thanks so much for sharing. You cannot imagine how much some of us would love to absorb :) everything in your back garden.. Those pics are special.

Danny, Danny boy.... post pics... no need to be patient about it, get them pics on here, ok i'm begging, the pics of the convicts are fantastic

ok guys i need some advice - after seeing those pics i convinced the wife that maybe she needs a rest - while shopping at the local mall i saw a special for Le Coco. I was thinking of going at the end of August or September.

My questions
1. Does Le Coco (East coast) have good snorkelling?
2. Is end of august and september a good time to go? Which is better?
3. Any suggestions?

Good snorkeling spots all over the Island, and August / September is a good time.
It's only cyclone season - Jan / Feb sometimes March that you want to avoid.

Some more..

I finally got around to going through the pictures I have and uploading a selection of the good ones online:

Under Da Sea - a set on Flickr

These are a mixed bunch from different days, different conditions, etc. Some taken by me and some by my brothers with my camera. It's all over a couple weeks at the end of March.

To answer some past questions: The depths range from about 2 or 3 meters at the deepest to some really shallow bits of only half a meter or less.

The camera is a Canon A520 - An oldish, but not tooo old 4 megapixel point and shoot job. It's inside a Canon WP-DC60 waterproof casing.

Finally, my visiting brothers saw some of the best stuff off the East Coast, although I've not been to any of those beaches myself.

No Puppy - the only ones I have heard of that survived was those in the Port Elizabeth public aquarium.... Steve Warren and Kanga told us about them....

These poor moorish idols usually die in our tanks....
