Sorry Bruce, but wouldn't the pipe running down the middle cast a shadow from the lighting, could you run it just above one of the tank braces?

Bruce, I am a little concerned about the holes in the overflow, it would be much more efficient at surface skimming and also less water to run into the sump when the power goes out, if you were to have the water run over the top of the pane of glass.

And i do agree with Wee-Man

About your return pipe from the sump to the display tank....why not run it straight up and into the display? That way you don't have to run it across the top of your sump and across your display tank.

Would it not give better flow from the far end?

Hi Kanga, sh......I forgot to remove [playing around] my cut list the back is 60mm lower than the than the height of 700mm.

Viper I would like to bring the return in the front as that is also a viewing pane.

Very nice sketch there, Bruce

I agree with Kanga, it would be better to just have an overflow "weir" rather than having the water flow through holes. Making the weir is as simple as making the side pane (say) 50mm shorter than the rest of the tank, and then siliconing a small piece of glass either side of the overflow box to close up the pane outside the box. (Hope you understand this, if not, I can post a photo of what I did on my tank...).

what do think about the overflow siliconed on?

That will work just fine, and is exactly what I did with mine.

Hennie

I shoulld be getting the glass for the sump next weekend and the slowly start building, as my first practice was a bit shakey with the trial build.
