South Side Outdoor - Finally!!

no , started last week , and thought with the addition of the Chaeto , that is would die off .
had a look last night , and is seems to be quite bad across the back of the tank.

obviously i dont want it to get out of control

you see ,what happens is tanks mostly do well in the first few months ,then they crash.... to prevent that, just keep manually cleaning and cleaning till it passes over, it could be one of many phases tanks go thru whilst maturing, many give up and then tank crashes... i persevered thru those phases with my 2m ,went from diatoms,to gha to cyano and i passed it all successfully, so just keep your hand on it for a while

i am worried about doing a water change this week end.
the cape is expecting more wonderful wet weather , so time is not going to be easy , and with cold weather, it may do more bad then good.

you dont need waterchange, just clean off as much as u manually can with sponge etc, and clean skimmer beforehand so its prepared to skimm the muck out and keep some filter socks ready for quick changes, you shud be fine dude, remember STRESS LEADS TO DISASTER

wet or dry skim ?
my skimmer was running quite wet last week and decided to run the skim a little drier , should i change it back ?
which skimming is better wet/dry ?

i would say during that process u can skim a bit wet, just to cleanup quicker but naturally dry is better or like some would say, the darker the skimmate the better and usually dry skimming produces the stinkiest darkest skimmate

T5's Running 8 Hrs and MH 4 hrs

That seems cool. I had them on my ex tank with light being on too long.
Mine ran 12 hours & MH 8.
After reducing to 8 & 6 it faded.

Agree with advice given so far. Ive experienced it coming & going on ex tank.
Others have mentioned about lamps losing intensity after a few months which also causes it...
& then the recent thread about the glass magnet cleaner that leaked:whistling:

So on the algae side, I guess leaving your UV off for 4 days doesn't help
I obviously forgot to turn it on again, after I added prodibio over the weekend.

Will post some fts pics as no one wants to look at algae.

Also mods please change my thread pic or tell me where to do it.
The one I have is an old tank that does exist anymore in my setup - and it looks terrible.
Thanks

Just Some FTS .
this is the order my my lights at night.

moonlight - using my LED bar.
looks amazing and gives the tank a mysterious look, beacause only part of the tank is visible , the rest is in darkness

This does give me a very good idea for my future bigger tank (someday). With this there is still really dark spots for the fish to sleep and one still get the effect of the moonlight.
